"Daily Show" co-creator doing show in Carrboro

Lizz Winstead, co-creator and former head writer for "The Daily Show," is currently touring the country doing political satire shows.

Tomorrow night, she brings that show to Carrboro.

This "My State of the Union" performance will be her first after Tuesday night's election. The show takes place at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro at 8pm. For more details on Winstead and on tickets for the show, read this article in today's Chapel Hill News.

The women of "The Daily Show" respond to accusation of sexism

Is Comedy Central's "Daily Show with Jon Stewart" a big ole boys club?

That's what Jezebel charged in a recent online article. The women who actually work at "The Daily Show" responded today in an open letter.

Betty White on "The Daily Show" (VIDEO)

Betty White appeared on "The Daily Show" Monday night and got tons of love from Jon Stewart and the audience, who chanted her name when she came out. It's a really cute interview. What's puzzling is that she once again states that she just won't joke about drugs, but she has a pot joke in the first scene of her new sitcom "Hot in Cleveland," which debuts tonight. Or maybe I'm not clear on exactly what constitutes joking about drugs. But no matter what Betty White is joking around about, she's hilarious. Check out the video below.

How Jon Stewart would have handled C-Span's racist caller from NC

It wasn't exactly a shining moment for our state, but earlier this week, "The Daily Show's" Jon Stewart took C-Span host Bill Scanlan to task for sitting silently during a racist rant from a caller from North Carolina.

From North Caroina? Ugh.

It seems that Bill, who identified himself as a Republican from St. Paul's, was upset that C-Span was taking so many "black folks" on the call-in line, and suggested to the host that the network change its name from C-Span to Black-Span.

Jon Stewart: Edwards' paternity admission "a shock to idiots"

Let the jokes begin (again).

On last night's "Daily Show with Jon Stewart," Jon Stewart brought his viewers up to speed on the latest in the John Edwards saga, declaring the former Senator's admission yesterday that he is the father of Rielle Hunter's baby, "a shock to idiots."

He also said of Edwards' hope that his youngest daughter would one day forgive him, that he believed Edwards could end most of his sentences with that sentiment for the rest of his life: "I'm looking forward to the football games on Sunday, hopefully some day she'll forgive me."

Stewart also speculated it was all part of Edwards' plan to announce his new line of perfume: "Forgiveness, by John Edwards. For the day she grows out of hating you for denying you were her father."

'Fled Sanford' - Absent SC governor skewered in comedy bits

Everyone's talking today about the antics of South Carolina's rogue governor Mark Sanford, who disappeared for several days and at one point was reported to be off hiking the Appalachian Trail. Turns out he was actually "crying in Argentina" with his mistress.

The State newspaper in Columbia has compiled some clips of news and comedy shows skewering the missing governor, the funniest being from Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report."

"The Daily Show" calls one of their segments "Fled . . .

Springsteen performs on Daily Show tonight

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, 11pm, Comedy Central

Last Thursday night Jon Stewart rumbled with Jim Cramer. Tonight, he rocks with The Boss.

Bruce Springsteen will perform tonight on The Daily Show. The only other musicians to ever perform live on Stewart's show are The White Stripes, Coldplay, and Tom Waits. Springsteen released a new abum in January -  "Working on a Dream."

In other Comedy Central news, Stewart's colleague Stephen Colbert will soon begin taping a week's worth of shows on a USO tour in the Persian Gulf. Comedy Central has not yet announced an airdate for The Colbert Report USO shows.

Stewart creams defenseless Cramer on Daily Show

The much-anticipated Stewart-Cramer showdown on The Daily Show last night certainly lived up to the hype. Stewart was armed and angry. Cramer was nervous as a cat, and made minimal effort to defend himself or his network (CNBC).

The Mad Money host barely argued anything Stewart threw at him, readily agreeing with most things he said. You had the feeling by the end of the show, if Stewart had suggested Cramer was responsible for 9/11, Cramer would have politely apologized. Still, it was exciting to watch someone call these guys out on their negligence.

Here's the recap.

Battle Royale: Kramer vs. Stewart

If you've been watching "The Daily Show" you know Jon Stewart has been beating up pretty badly on loud CNBC financial pundit Jim Kramer on some predictions he made about the market.

Kramer has been on some shows fighting back. The whole debate has led to a bigger question: did the media do its job in reporting on the events leading up to the recession.

Well, now Kramer has agreed to go on Stewart's Comedy Central show to talk about things tomorrow night.

The L.A. Times has a good story that will catch you up nicely if you're behind.

Update: Here's a story from Salon exploring whether CNBC is really all that bad. Guess what the conclusion is?
