A bit more than three years ago, I sat down with North Carolina expatriate Jacob Hatley at a joint in Hollywood to talk about his movie "Ain't In It For My Health: A Film About Levon Helm," which was playing festivals to rave reviews. Hatley guessed he'd have it in theaters later in 2010, but his selling odyssey was just beginning and would drag on for three years.
Alas, Helm himself passed on last year, before the film saw widespread distribution. Finally, however, "Ain't In It For My Health" is making its way into theaters and has its Chapel Hill premiere at The Chelsea, where Hatley used to work when he was getting his English degree at UNC. See the review from Friday's paper, which includes details on a post-screening talk that Hatley and others involved with the film will give on Friday night.
