"The Bachelorette": Inked up and insane

Kasey.

Kasey, Kasey, Kasey.

At one point during last night's episode of "The Bachelorette" (it was the point where Kasey kept serenading Ali with improvised songs about her), I wondered if our bachelorette was actually being punk'd by ABC. The first time Kasey sang, I could have chalked it up to, "Well, he went for it and it didn't work. Move on."

But Kasey's inability to read even the most glaring cues from other human beings kept him from seeing the pain and awkwardness on Ali's face, so he launched into another verse.

What to Watch on Monday: History Channel picks North Carolina

Bachelorette (8pm, ABC) - Mentioning this because last week's preview indicates that Kasey goes a little wacko. Could be crafty editing from ABC, or maybe Kasey really is as weird as that vibe he's been giving off.

American Pickers (9pm, History) - This is a History Channel series about two guys, Mike and Frank, who scour the nation's junkyards in search of lost treasures. For tonight's episode, they are right here in North Carolina. Mike and Frank explore old school buses and a burned down storage house, and discover a strange item they've never seen before. They place bets on what it is and then get surprised by what an appraiser says about it. Later, Frank goes a little nuts when he finds a gold mine of old signs on a 20-acre farm. Their "picking" inspires a mother/daughter team who start foraging through their grandfather's old storage sheds.

Good Guys (9pm, Fox) - Dan and Jack start off looking into a damaged vending machine at a high-end hotel and end up investigating a prostitution ring and a grisly murder.

For Neda (9pm, HBO) - A documentary about Neda Agha-Soltan, who became another tragic casualty of Iran’s recent post-election protests on June 20, 2009. Unlike many unknown victims, however, she instantly became an international symbol of the struggle: Within hours of Agha-Soltan’s death, cell phone photographs of her blood-stained face were held aloft by crowds protesting in Tehran and across the world. With exclusive access to her family inside Iran, the documentary goes to the heart of who Neda was and what she stood for, illuminating the larger Iranian struggle for democratic freedoms through her powerful story. Directed by Antony Thomas.

Persons Unknown (10pm, NBC) - A group of  irritating strangers are abducted and wake up in a weird hotel in a deserted town. They've all been implanted with drug-dispensing microchips and are under constant video surveillance. At the end of last week's premiere, one of the captives received a fortune cookie telling her if she kills her neighbor, she can go free. Will she do it?

Dance Your Ass Off (10pm, Oxygen) - The 12 contestants meet their personal trainer and nutritionist and then pair up for a dance challenge.

All Worked Up (10pm, truTV) - The reality show featuring the folks from Lizard Lick Towing is back.

"The Bachelorette": Is that Weatherman for real!?

Every season I say I'm not going to watch "The Bachelorette," but every year something draws me in. This year, it's The Weatherman.

The Weatherman might be the cheesiest, most pathetic character to ever grace an ABC hot tub. The only way I can really describe him is that he's part 12-year-old girl and part Tom Cruise (if Tom Cruise wears white leather jackets and cries when he has to kiss girls. And maybe he does, I don't know).

What to Watch on Monday: Bret Michaels' new reality show

The Bachelorette (8pm, ABC) - Seventeen men move into the bachelor mansion and begin courting Ali. Two men get one-on-one dates, including a private Jamie Callum performance in Las Vegas.

Thank You, Eddie Hart (9pm, UNC-TV) - The true story of a young Dutch woman who adopted the grave of North Carolina soldier PFC Eddie Hart near her hometown in Holland, and promised to visit it several times a year. She and her brother paid tribute to Hart -- a soldier they never knew -- for 57 years. Hart, from the 83rd Infantry Division, was killed in Germany in the waning days of World War II. Read more about Eddie Hart and the film here

Big Bang Theory (9:30pm, CBS) - It's a rerun but one of the show's funniest. Sheldon uses behavior modification methods to "train" Penny and alter some of her annoying habits. Think "dog treats."

Saving Grace (10pm, TNT) - With the celestial Earl in her corner, Grace must answer to a higher authority and deal with the judgment of her past behavior.

Cake Boss (9pm, TLC) - In the one-hour third season premiere, Buddy makes a cake for the New Jersey governor's inauguration gala.

Bret Michaels: Life as I Know It (10pm, VH1) - This is a preview of Bret Michaels' new reality show, slated to debut later this fall. This one should be a little different than his hit "Rock of Love" reality series, in which Bret tried out various skanky young women hoping to find a Mrs. Bret Michaels. He never did find her. This new reality show focuses on Bret's home life with his kids and the challenges of balancing being a rocker with being a dad. "Life" has temporarily halted production, but will resume as soon as Bret's health stabilizes.

What to Watch on Monday: Big finales, including "24" and "Law & Order"

24 (8pm, Fox) - In this special two-hour series finale, President Taylor focuses on the peace treaty while Jack takes matters into his own hands (just as he does in every episode of every season). Boy, have I grown tired of Jack Bauer. But for those still engrossed in the show, tonight is very big.

Dancing with the Stars (8pm, ABC) - Tonight is the finale! It'll likely be close tonight between Nicole, Evan, and Erin. Check back later tonight for our recap.

Chuck (8pm, NBC) - In the Season 3 finale, thugs from the Ring inch closer to taking down Chuck and his team, as Chuck's father (Scott Bakula) works to stop them. And speaking of dads, Casey has to go on a clandestine mission to protect his own daughter from the Ring. NBC has graciously granted "Chuck" 13 episodes for a Season 4.

Awkward! Kiptyn and Reid confront Bachelorette Jillian

Kiptyn and Reid faced Jillian last night for the first time since being rejected by her in Hawaii. Both men were fairly emotional on the "After the Final Rose" show, and both said they are still in love with Jillian, who is now engaged to Ed. All of this made for some pretty uncomfortable conversations. And great TV!

Watching Reid especially was pretty uncomfortable. Dude is obviously still reeling and still pining for Jillian, and he wanted to ask her all the usual "Why?!" kinds of questions. But after one or two awkward attempts, he finally said there was no point because she picked Ed, end of story. It was all pretty awkward and I really thought Reid was going to cry at one point. The camera even zoomed in tight on his eyes one time, "Bachelorette" producers praying for tears, I'm sure. Jillian got a little teary, but that's it.

The Bachelorette has to break some hearts to get her man

While it's true I've snickered at some of the rejected suitors who have failed to win roses from Jillian Harris this season, sometimes "The Bachelorette" just seems cruel to me.

I'm no huge fan of Kiptyn (though I have nothing against him and I better get used to him), but I felt sorry for him last night when he poured his heart out to Jillian and danced right up to the edge of a marriage proposal, only to have her tell him she doesn't love
him back. This is a guy who insisted all season that he needed to take things slowly, while Jillian pushed and pulled him relentlessly to hurry the heck up and love her already. The way the show is set up, it comes off as the ultimate bait-and-switch.

What to Watch on Tuesday: A dating show ends, yet another begins

Hell's Kitchen (8pm, Fox) - 14 chefs are awakened in the middle of the night to prepare spaghetti and meatballs for hungry firefighters. If last week was any indication, I hope the fire fighters are given lots of bread to hold them over...

More to Love (9pm, Fox) - "The Bachelorette" has wrapped up so let's not wait another minute (or let's!) before we dive into another dating show. This one is from the producers of "The Bachelor / Bachelorette," but it's hosted by plus-size model Emme, so you know where this is going. Luke Conley (left), a 6-foot-3 and 300+ pound former college linebacker looks for love.

Better Off Ted (9:30pm, ABC) - Ted creates a phony project for Linda when he hears she wants to go green. But that's a problem when others want to join the fake cause.

Bachelorette: After the Final Rose (10pm, ABC) - Not one, but two spurned bachelors confront Jillian. By now, we know who Jillian picked and that he proposed. But are they still together?

What to Watch on Monday: A tearful Bachelorette finale

The Bachelorette Finale (8pm, ABC) - Tonight's the big finale where Jillian must choose between Kiptyn, Ed, and from what we hear, a returning Reid. Expect lots of waffling and tears, and a last minute decision from Jillian. Is the drama manufactured? Some say yes, but do not read this link -- or this one -- unless you want spoilers. And don't forget tomorrow night is the "After the Final Rose" special.

The Closer (9pm, TNT) - Brenda's investigation is hampered when an obsessive detective (Tom Skerritt) comes out of retirement to help solve the murder of a man who had been the prime suspect in one of his cases decades earlier.

Sex in '69: Sexual Revolution in America (9pm, History) - A look at the changing views about sex in 1969 takes us from Hugh Hefner's Playboy Mansion to hippie crash pads in San Francisco.

Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List (10pm, Bravo) - In a very special episode of "D-List," Kathy dubs herself Norma Gay and protests in Sacramento for gay marriage rights.

Bachelorette recap: Wes chickens out, skips reunion show

It was the main reason many people tuned in last night: to see Wes on the sofa explaining the jerky slimeball behavior that has surely landed him in Reality TV history books. But about 20 minutes into the "Men Tell All" special, we found out that our reviled little Texas corn fritter was a no-show -- as Chris Harrison put it, "for obvious reasons" (main reason, apart from him not having a spine: the angry audience would have  probably stoned him to death).

Also, I owe an apology to ABC because they didn't show Ryan and Trista one single time! I'm still a little bit in shock about that. Are they saving them for the finale next week? Cuz you know it's gotta happen.
