What to Watch on Monday: HBO wants you 'Bored' but "Enlightened'

How I Met Your Mother (8pm, CBS) - Ted takes his class out on a field trip, but it ends badly. Also, Marshall thinks his boss is too weak in a settlement with a million-dollar company, and he decides to take action.

Terra Nova (8pm, Fox) - Radio silence at a nearby scientific outpost prompts an investigation that reveals the outbreak of a deadly virus that causes memory loss and paranoia -- and which poses a risk to Terra Nova.

Bored to Death (9pm, HBO) - In the Season 3 premiere, Jonathan (Jason Schwartzman) marks the release of his new book but must process some alarming family news. Meanwhile, George (Ted Danson) is reunited with his daughter and meets her new boyfriend, and Ray (Zach Galifianakis) spends a day with his biological son.

Enlightened (9:30pm, HBO) - In the series premiere, a corporate executive (Laura Dern, left) suffers a public breakdown at work but hopes to get her job back after reinventing herself at a mental-health retreat. Unfortunately, her transformation doesn't go over well with her loved ones and coworkers, who don't always share her new outlook on life. Also stars Luke Wilson (left) and Diane Ladd. You can watch the trailer here.

House (9pm, Fox) - House returns to the hospital -- with conditions -- after his stint in prison, and gets a cold reception from Wilson. There's also a new doctor on the diagnostic team: a bright but shy resident played by Charlyne Yi.

Hart of Dixie (9pm, CW) - Zoe enters a gumbo contest in yet another attempt to prove she can fit in as a Bluebell resident. Meanwhile, Zoe and Brick must look past their differences to save someone's life.

Five (9pm, Lifetime) - An anthology of five short films exploring the impact of breast cancer on the lives of women diagnosed and their loved ones. Featured: Rosario Dawson, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Jeanne Tripplehorn. Directors include Jennifer Anniston, Demi Moore, and Alicia Keys. Check out Adrienne's review.

Ted Danson the new star of "CSI"

The big news: Ted Danson is heading to "CSI."

The big question: Is this something that could finally get me to try to watch at least one full episode of "CSI?"

Danson is best known for his comic portayal of Sam Malone on the long-running NBC sitcom "Cheers," and then spent six years heading the CBS sitcom "Becker." But Danson can definitely do drama, as fans of "Damages" can attest (Danson was nominated for an Emmy for playing the rotten CEO, Arthur Furbisher). Danson also currently stars on the HBO series "Bored to Death," and he's absolutely hilarious there, and makes occasional appearances on Larry David's "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

What to Watch on Monday: Casey goes rogue and Frobisher returns

Chuck (8pm, NBC) - Is Casey (Adam Baldwin at right) going rogue? After he performs a side mission for his old boss, he lands in prison for treason and Chuck and Sarah try to break him out. "Chuck" has been all about the surprises so far this season, but a surprise I can not get behind is removing Casey from the equation.

20/20 Inside the Bachelor: Stories Behind the Rose (8pm, ABC) -  This venerable news show takes a hard, investigative look at the inner workings of the popular reality shows "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette." Oh, who are we kidding. It's an inside job so expect nice, fluffy interviews with folks like Melissa Rycroft, Dr. Travis Stork, and Ryan & Trista.

Trauma (9pm, NBC) - Suspended Rabbit begins his mandatory therapy sessions just as things heat up between him and Nancy. Also, Glenn loses a patient during a routine procedure and a patient flees from Boone and Tyler's rig. NBC isn't promoting this show at all and the ratings are in the toilet. So when it gets canceled this time, it will stay canceled. I still like it.

Law & Order (10pm, NBC) - Cutter takes on his mentor (Amy Madigan) when she tries to overturn the conviction of a man found guilty of a hate crime, and a secret from Cutter's past may have an impact on the case. Anna Chlumsky also guest stars. The story appears to be based on the real-life Northwestern University Medill Innocence Project case.

Damages (10pm, FX) - Forget the Tobins -- Arthur Frobisher (Ted Danson, left) is back to launch his new foundation.

Zach Galifianakis stars in new HBO comedy

Fresh from his star turn in the summer comedy blockbuster "The Hangover," North Carolina native Zach Galifianakis is now co-starring with Jason Schwartzman in a new HBO comedy debuting this Sunday after "Curb Your Enthusiasm" called "Bored to Death."

In the sitcom, Schwartzman plays Jonathan, a distracted writer whose girlfriend has just left him because he drinks too much wine and smokes too much pot. His life has no direction, so after reading a Raymond Chandler novel, Jonathan is inspired to place a Craigslist ad offering up his unlicensed private investigating services.
