Former Durham Academy player Mollie Pathman, as well as Cary native Taylor Travis, were named to the NCAA first-team all-rookie by TopDrawerSoccer.com, a website that covers college and club soccer.

Alumni News: Apex grad honored by Big East, Green Hope grad honored by SEC

They graduated from two different schools — in different years — played different sports and went to different universities.

But Apex ('07) grad Sio Moore and Green Hope grad ('10) Taylor Travis each had something in common this week: they were honored by their respective conferences.

Moore, who now plays football for the University of Connecticut, was honored as Big East Defensive Player of the Week. Moore, a redshirt sophomore, is a linebacker with the Huskies and recorded 16 tackles and an interception is his first career start.

Travis, who now plays women's soccer at the University of Florida, was named the SEC Freshman of the Week. Travis, who did not play high school soccer at Green Hope, scored the game-winner for the No. 7 Gators against Vanderbilt and is third on her team in goals and points. She is also in a three-way tie for assists.
