Raleigh gets new eco-friendly taxi service

Raleigh will be getting a eco-friendly taxi service.

Micahel Solomon, president of Raleigh-based Taxi Taxi, which uses new Toyota Prius cars, will unveil the new vehicles this morning at a press conference in front of the Raleigh Convention Center.

A host of local officials and politicians will be on hand: Mayor Nancy McFarlane; David Diaz, president of the Downtown Raleigh Alliance, Dennis Edwards CEO of the Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau and Rep. Deborah Ross, a Raleigh Democrat.

In addition to driving the hybrid vehicles, Taxi Taxi cabs will have credit card machines in the rear passenger seats. It utilizes a GPS app that lets riders track the taxi and has an online fare estimator.
