FREE Hershey's Simple Pleasures candy at Target

Thanks to a new coupon in Sunday's newspaper, Hershey's Simple Pleasures chocolate candy is free for the taking at Target -- with the right coupon combination, of course.

Simple Pleasures candy regularly sells for $2.99 at Target.

Use the $2/1 coupon from Sunday's Smart Source coupon insert, along with Target's $1/1 printable store coupon.

All you will need to pay is tax.

Back-to-school deals (Aug. 19-25)

As summer winds down, now is the time to buy pens, pencils, computer paper, binders and other items considered school supplies.

If you don't have kids, think about stocking up your home office or buy the ultra cheap deals and donate them to a nearby school or charity.

But do your homework! That includes reading the fine print. Some deals, especially some of those enticing free and penny deals, require a minimum purchase or involve a rebate.

Database updated with Sunday's new coupons

The News & Observer's  coupon database has been updated with all of the new coupons -- and there were a bunch.

This Sunday's home-delivered Final Edition of The News & Observer contains five inserts -- one Smart Source, two Red Plum, the August P&G and a single-page Target insert -- for a total of 225 coupons with a face value of at least $350.

That's before every-day double coupons at Kroger, Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods -- not to mention Super Doubles, which is ongoing at Lowes Foods this week.

Not familiar with the coupon database? You can access it on the right-hand side of the blog. There's a button at the bottom right to view it as a full-size page.
Or, you can download it as an Excel spreadsheet by clicking on the attachment at the bottom of this post.
It's a handy tool, listing every coupon we receive in the Sunday N&O. It's the most timely and detailed source of coupon information in the Triangle.

For a how-to post on the database, read my Coupons 101 post HERE.

Coupons to stretch your back-to-school budget

The sales circulars are full of back-to-school deals but you can stretch your budget even further using back-to-school coupons.

Here are several I've found:

School supply deals (July 15-21)

Back-to-school deals are in full swing with prices as low as a penny. Some are even free.

The deals can be found at the office supply stores and big box retailers, of course. But don't forget the drugstores and supermarkets. They are getting in on back-to-school sales as well.

Even if you don't have kids, think about stocking up your home office or buy the ultra cheap deals and donate them to a nearby school or charity. I know they will greatly appreciate it.

50 FREE photo prints at Target this week

Target has an incredibly generous offer on photo prints this week.

Four-by-six inch prints are on sale for 10 cents each, a pretty good deal on its own.

But use the $5 off 50 prints coupon on Target.com and you'll get 50 photos FREE.

Two more free samples from Target: Garnier Fructis and Shout Color Catcher

If you like freebies in your mailbox, Target is offering samples of Shout Color Catcher Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine shampoo and conditioner.

That's in addition to the Starbucks K-Cup sample pack I blogged about earlier today.
