You've got to give it up to the makers of "Sharktopus" (Syfy, 9 tonight); it's produced by um, legendary horror guy Roger Corman; just by the title they're letting you know that you should not be taking this film seriously in any way.
So if you're up for a couple of hours of goofy viewing, jump on it.
S-11 (that's the sharktopus) is the creation of a mad scientist (Eric Roberts) and his brainy daughter (he keeps calling her pumpkin, much to her chagrin, so he switches to baby girl) to be a secret weapon for the Navy. In the first scene, they're showing off their creation to a military man. He's impressed. When they show off a bit too much, S-11's controls break down, it goes rouge and becomes a killing machine. The 'pus not only has shark teeth but its tentacles are sharpened. Scantily clad hotties are its primary victims.

Sharktopus (Syfy) - An original Syfy movie starring Eric Roberts as a military scientist who develops a monstrous shark-octopus hybrid, which goes on a killing spree on the resort beaches of Mexico after the mechanism that controls the beast is accidentally destroyed. Sounds entirely plausible.
"Beast Legends" (Syfy, 10 tonight) is a goofy, educational romp, a show that takes itself seriously, even when it shouldn't.
Rookie Blue (9pm, ABC) - In tonight's 2-hour season finale, the rookies face evaluations to determine whether or not they keep their badges, and Andy thinks about quitting the force altogether. But first, Andy and Chris make an arrest and unwittingly compromise a major drug sting. Andy tries to salvage the sting by going undercover with Swarek, but both their lives are endangered. Also, Dov learns a hard truth about his girlfriend and must choose between the job and his love life. Hopefully, WTVD won't pre-empt this again for another Carolina Panthers game.
Persons Unknown (8pm, NBC) - I'm not sure I get any of this. Apparently there's an 11th episode called "Seven Sacrifices" that is not running on television, but you can watch it online at
Since
Garbage Moguls (8pm, National Geographic Channel) - A new series documenting the work at TerraCycle Inc, a green company that makes products from trash. Three episodes in a row air tonight. In the first, the company makes a line of pet products from recycled dog food bags. In the second episode at 9pm, plastic trash cans are made from potato chip bags and fishing lures are made from old cds. And at 10pm, investors offer TerraCycle a retail store for free, but the catch is they have to renovate, design, and stock it in 24 hours.
Cops (8pm, Fox) - Throwing out this "Cops" rerun so that a loyal reader can play his favorite drinking game: Tranny, Runner, or Drunk Crier? Two drinks for shirtless.
Persons Unknown (8pm, NBC) - Dread sweeps through the group when Joe falls seriously ill, and even though Erika has the antidote, she won't give it to him unless he confesses his secret. Elsewhere, reporter Renbe and Kat attend Tori's funeral in Rome, and discover that Tori's ambassador father is also looking into her disappearance.
The Jensen Project (8pm, NBC) - Perhaps this should be called the "The Wal-Mart Project." This original family adventure movie was produced and financed by Wal-Mart and Proctor & Gamble, because the companies believe people will buy their products if they see advertising on family-friendly programming. The movie is about two former members of a secret society of genius researchers who embark on a mission with their teen son to thwart a rogue colleague and secure potentially deadly technology. Along the way, family bonds are strengthened. And we're guessing, Wal-Mart rolls back prices on Charmin.
