'SuperNanny' casting call in Cary

"America's SuperNanny," an unscripted television series in which desperate families get advice on taming their unruly children, will hold an open casting call in Cary on Saturday. The event is noon to 4 p.m. at Monkey Joe's on Walnut Street.

If possible, the whole family should attend the casting call. If you can't make the casting call, you can submit an application online.

"America's SuperNanny" is the latest incarnation of the global "SuperNanny" television franchise. British SuperNanny Jo Frost is no longer affiliated with the show, which aired for six seasons on ABC. So there will be a brand new American nanny taking over.

The new show will air eight one-hour episodes on the Lifetime cable network later this fall.

What to Watch on Friday: So long, 'Supernanny.'

NCAA Tournament (CBS, TNT, TBS, truTV) - Games continue. Of local interest, Duke vs. Hampton at 3pm on truTV and UNC vs. Long Island at 7pm on CBS.

Supernanny (8pm, ABC) - I can't bear this show, so it heartens me to note that tonight is the series finale. Jo Frost shows up on the 'Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson' later tonight at 1:37am.

Fringe (9pm, Fox) - The investigation into an apparent suicide reveals another set of fingerprints that lead to a woman with unique abilities.

I'm Alive (9pm, Animal Planet) - A helicopter crash survivor returns to his job as a wildlife specialist only to be charged by an elephant and trapped under an overturned rock.

20/20 (10pm, ABC) - Jay Schadler reports on two separate murder cases -- one in Indiana, another in Edmonton -- that investigators suspect were inspired by the Showtime drama "Dexter." Also, Deborah Roberts interviews singer Jennifer Hudson.

Give It Up for Greg Giraldo (10:30pm, Comedy Central) - A special featuring some of the late stand-up comedian's best bits. Gone too soon...

What to Watch on Friday: Teri Hatcher as Lois Lane's mom on "Smallville"

Smallville (8pm, CW) - Lois Lane (Erica Durance, left) views a video her mom Ella Lane (Teri Hatcher) made for her before her death. The tape prompts Lois to make a major decision about Clark, which leads to her  encountering Jor-El and Lara at the Fortress (note to youngsters: Hatcher played Lois Lane in the 90s TV show "Lois & Clark").

Supernanny (8pm, ABC) - Jo helps a couple so preoccupied with trying to discipline their three older children (often by putting hot sauce on their lips) that they are in danger of neglecting their baby. They really should have named this show "People Who Shouldn't Reproduce."

Blue Bloods (10pm, CBS) - Jamie witnesses a crime in Chinatown and the suspect is killed while Jamie pursues him. Danny investigates and must solve the case to prevent Jamie from being the target of an Internal Affairs probe.

Sanctuary (10pm, Syfy) - Kate gains superpowers when an Abnormal adheres itself to her after gunmen breach the Sanctuary in a bid to steal the creature.

Real Time with Bill Maher (10pm, HBO) - The eighth season comes to a close with guests Nora Ephron, Michael Moore, Jessica Yellin, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, and Pennsylvania Rep. Joe Sestak.

"The Fairy Jobmother": A tough Mary Poppins for the unemployed

Let's just admit it: Problems are best solved by chubby British women.

They're clear-headed, no-nonsense tough love-types who will know that a few tips and some common sense are all Yankees need to get back on track.

My proof? "The Fairy Jobmother" (Lifetime, 11 tonight; 9 p.m. starting on Nov. 4), in which "international career specialist" Hayley Taylor comes in and help families struggling with unemployment.

The one-hour, eight-episode show is produced by the folks who bring us "Undercover Boss," (a nice counterpart, don't you think?), so it expect MOMENTS. You know tears, epiphanies, breakthroughs.

What to Watch on Friday: "SuperNanny" hits 100th episode

ACC Tournament (WRAL) - Quarterfinal games continue on WRAL. (Duke vs. Virginia at noon, Va Tech vs. Miami at 2pm, Maryland vs. Ga Tech at 7pm, and NCSU vs. Florida State at around 9pm)

Who Do You Think You Are (8pm, NBC) - Tonight, football great Emmitt Smith gets help tracing his roots to Burnt Corn, Alabama, and beyond.

SuperNanny (8pm, ABC) - If you can stand two straight hours of incredibly ill-behaved children and remarkably clueless parents (I can't even stand one), there's a double dose of "SuperNanny" tonight. At 9pm is the show's 100th episode. That's a whole lotta screaming brats.

The Ricky Gervais Show (9pm, HBO) -  Topics include Karl's upcoming trip to a spa, tribal customs in New Guinea, and an email about dangerous dolphins.

Real Time with Bill Maher (10pm, HBO) - Bill's guests are Hill Harper, Amy Holmes, Gary Johnson, Michael Bennet, and John Heilemann.

What to Watch on Friday: Monk's Sharona returns

Supernanny (8pm, ABC) - In the season six premiere, Jo encourages a couple to work on their relationship when a father dotes on his three biological sons, but doesn't get along with his teenage stepdaughter.

Law & Order (8pm, NBC) - A controversial episode in which a doctor who performs late-term abortions is murdered by a pro-life activist. This isn't the first time "Law & Order" has taken on the topic of abortion or the killing of doctors who perform them, but the moral debate within this episode is not as black and white as you may assume. Richard Thomas guest stars.

Dollhouse (9pm, Fox) - Sierra's introduction to the Dollhouse is revealed when she faces her connection to Rossum Corporation. Keith Carradine stars.

Monk (9pm, USA) - Sharona returns. Need I say more? Okay, okay. Sharona (Bitty Schram) returns to San Francisco to sort out some red tape after her uncle's death, but Monk suspects foul play. Investigating the uncle's death, Monk works with both Sharona and Natalie at the same time. Jack Wagner also guest stars.

White Collar (10pm, USA) - The latest quirky crime drama from USA features a charismatic con man who partners with the FBI to help solve white collar crimes to keep himself out of prison.
