Devils not satisfied yet

The New Jersey Devils came to the RBC Center for two playoff games with the Canes, without captain Jamie Langenbrunner and needing one win to regain home-ice advantage in the series.

The Devils got that win, 3-2 in overtime Sunday. Is that good enough for them?

"We're not satisfied, not at all," Devils coach Brent Sutter said today.

RALEIGH — The New Jersey Devils' Travis Zajac scored in overtime to give them a 3-2 overtime victory at the RBC Center. The Devils take a 2-1 series lead and play the Canes again Tuesday.

Devils expect great atmosphere

The New Jersey Devils know what to expect tonight at the RBC Center. Noise, a lot of it. Excitement, a lot of it.

"You expect a great atmosphere," Devils forward Zach Parise said. "The last time they had a playoff game here they won the Cup."

Rolston in Langenbrunner's spot

With captain Jamie Langenbrunner out of Game 3 and Game 4 with a "lower-body" injury, Devils coach Brent Sutter has had to do some line juggling.

In today's morning skate at the RBC Center, Brian Rolston has
replaced Langenbrunner at right wing on the line with Travis Zajac and Zach Parise.

Sutter, after the skate, would not say if Rolston, a 14-year veteran, would be on that line, and a smiling Rolston said he did not know.

"It's a situation where we could try different scenarios," Sutter said.

Cullen misses skate but will play

Canes center Matt Cullen was not on the ice for the morning skate at the RBC Center but will play tonight against the Devils, coach Paul Maurice said.

"He's fine. There's no question about that," Maurice said.

Cullen missed the last eight games of the regular season with a foot injury but played in the first two playoff games aganst the Devils. The Canes did not practice Saturday.

Brodeur: Devils didn't make Canes pay

The game was there to be won but wasn't. It happens. It's the playoffs. Time to move on.

Such seemed to be the attitude and mindset of Devils' goaltender Martin Brodeur today in talking about the 2-1 overtime loss to the Canes in Game 2 in Newark, N.J.

"We didn't take advantage of the penalties they had," he said, noting the Devils' 1-for-6 showing on the power play. "They took some bad penalties and we just didn't capitalize on them."

NEWARK, N.J. — Tim Gleason and Joe Corvo came up big for the Hurricanes, lifting them to a 2-1 overtime win to send the series back to Raleigh, tied at one.

The goal was Gleason's first of the season and came just 2:40 into the overtime period. Corvo fed Gleason for the score.

Maurice tight-lipped about changes

NEWARK, N.J. — Canes captain Rod Brind'Amour was back on the ice today for the morning skate and will play tonight in Game Two against the Devils. That much is known.

But Canes coach Paul Maurice, while indicating there will be some line shuffling and lineup changes tonight, would not be more specific today.

"We probably didn't have anybody individually stand out worse than anybody else but we've got some players who can bring some jump and legs into our lineup," he said.
