Back in April, we wrote a story about a new device from a Raleigh company that uses satellite and GPS technology to track your dog. The SpotLight tracking device was supposed to be available to the public this Spring but was delayed until now.
SpotLight is a small box that attaches to a dog's collar and can give you its current location. It also can send you alerts via text if your dog strays from a specified area and turn-by-turn directions to your dog if you have a Web-enabled phone.
To make the product work, Positioning Animals Worldwide (or PAW) has partnered with the American Kennel Club's Companion Animal Recovery division, which provides telephone support for PAW owners. PAW is offering the device at an introductory discounted price of $199.99 as opposed to the normal price of $249.99.
