Two local standouts were named all-Americans in boys soccer.
Earlier in the week, Millbrook’s soccer team fell to Wake Forest-Rolesville 3-2 in the first round of the Cap Eight tournament. The upset was surprising because the Wildcats (14-3-4) are one of the best teams this season in the Triangle.
One of the reasons Millbrook lost was because of Spencer LaCivita, Millbrook’s starting goalkeeper who has a scholarship to play at Virginia next year, missed the match after being suspended indefinitely.
Last Friday, LaCivita was charged with injury to real property, second-degree trespassing and misdemeanor conspiracy for vandalizing Leesville Road High School before the two schools play each other in football. Three other students were also charged.
As of now, the school has not made a decision on whether LaCivita will return to the team or not before Tuesday’s first-round playoff match at home. Scott McInnes, the school’s athletic director, said the school will make its decision sometime Monday morning.
Two local rising seniors, Millbrook's Spencer LaCivita and Durham Jordan's Ted Mullin, are both ranked among the nation's best high school soccer players on ESPN RISE.
