What to Watch on Tuesday: 'Pioneers of Television' calls the cops

Pioneers of Television (8pm, UNC-TV) - If you consider yourself a fan of television, there's really no excuse for not watching this great series. The third installment of the season is about a genre near and dear to my heart -- crime dramas. Groundbreaking shows like "Dragnet," "The Untouchables," "I Spy," "Police Woman," "Columbo," and "The Rockford Files" are examined. Look for interview clips featuring Mike Connors ("Mannix"), Bill Cosby and Robert Culp ("I Spy"), Angie Dickinson ("Police Woman") and James Garner ("Rockford Files").

Frontline: Post Mortem (9pm, UNC-TV) - Lowell Bergman reports on the declining number of autopsies being performed in the U.S. and the shortage of competent forensic pathologists. Here's our review.

Southland (10pm, TNT) - John connects with an abandoned teen as he prepares to testify at his father's parole hearing, and Lydia and Josie handle a tricky rape case. But honestly, what I can't wait to see tonight is how everyone reacts to the tragic events from last week's episode. I won't give away details because certain people here at Warm TV are behind (for shame!). I wish I could force everyone to watch this show.

Detroit 1-8-7 (10pm, ABC) - Fitch is considered the prime suspect with local scumbag -- I mean, philanthropist -- Henry Malloy is murdered shortly after receiving the key to the city.

Catching up is easy. Watch it.

No official announcement on cancelation or a third season is expected until May. Charlotte native Britt Robertson plays Lux (left with her dad, Baze).
