Jared Hendryx of Jordan and Tyrone Outlaw, Jr. of Person share PAC-6 boys basketball player of the year honors. Jordyn Smith of Hillside win the girls' player of the year.
Girls basketball teams play this Friday with a chance to advance to next week's regionals. Two area Cinderellas are still alive: 12-seed Cary and 11-seed Sanderson, who play at 1-Millbrook and 7-Southern Durham, respectively.
Hillside at Green Hope, a rematch from a second-round thriller from last year, highlights the area games as the two sides are a combined 49-5 this year.
Chapel Hill, Northwood, Jordan-Matthews and Goldsboro are at home in their quests to make regionals, while Bunn and Southern Lee are on the road.
All game times are 7 p.m.
Hillside managed to sweep the PAC-6 tournament titles, defeating Southern Durham in the girls championship by three points and getting a last-second basket to upset 1-seed Person for the boys championship.
No. 5 Middle Creek Mustangs

No. 7 Wakefield Wolverines
- Wakefield defeated Wake Forest-Rolesville in the regular season last year and put up some huge offensive numbers. The Wolverines feel as though they can take the Cap-8. Read the preview by clicking here.
No. 8 Southern Durham Spartans
- The Spartans were close to greatness last year, but close losses to tough teams gave Southern a losing overall record. The schedule is tough again, but so too are the guys with the 'S' on their helmets. Read the preview by clicking here.
Millbrook (26-1) and Green Hope (24-1) could be on a collision path in their NCHSAA 4-A sectional, but the eight-team bracket also features hot Durham Hillside (20-6)..
Travel will be at a minimum in the bottom bracket of the NCHSAA 4-A bottom sectional. Jordan, Panther Creek, Broughton, Lee County, Enloe, Millbrook and Southern Durham are in the same bracket.
