South Johnston fined $400, placed on 1-year probation for illegal football practices

South Johnston High School has been fined $400 and placed on a one-year probation by the N.C. High School Athletic Association for violations by the school's football team during summer workouts.
The school was penalized for the use of illegal equipment and body-to-body contact on seven days during the month of July.

South Johnston coach suspended

South Johnston High has been sanctioned and faces a possible fine for violation of N.C. High School Athletic Association football practice rules and Coach Joe Salas has been suspended from his head football coaching duties, according to Johnston County Schools.

NCHSAA 3-AA and 3-A state champions

South Johnston played for the NCHSAA 3-AA state title in 2009. West Rowan, Shelby Crest, Greensboro Dudley, Belmont South Point and Concord have won multiple titles.

NCHSAA volleyball third round
