What to Watch on Wednesday: Chaos on 'Necessary Roughness' mid-season finale

Republican National Convention - Primetime convention coverage on broadcast networks begins at 10 p.m. tonight. If you want wall-to-wall coverage, your best bet is to head online or to cable. Here's much more information about RNC viewing.

What to Watch on Wednesday: A goofy new game show and lost American treasures

So You Think You Can Dance (8pm, Fox) - The Top 14 dancers' performances include a tribute to choreographer Mia Michaels, and four finalists are eliminated.

Oh, Sit! (8pm, CW) - If I told you The CW has a new competition reality series based on the game of "musical chairs," you'd probably say I was joking. Sadly, you'd be wrong. It's real and it's hosted by Jamie Kennedy. I'm thinking, given the inexplicable popularity of ABC's "Wipe Out," with which "Oh, Sit!" shares some similarities, it could be a sleeper hit.

Necessary Roughness (10pm, USA) - Dani works with a professional video gamer, and she and Matt discover the upside to their breakup. Also, the Hawks start making cuts after training season, and T.K. tries to help Razor with a problem but discovers one of his own in the process.

Toy Hunter (10pm, Travel) - Jordan Hembrough hunts for vintage toys in New Jersey in the premiere of this new reality series, which follows the collectibles dealer as he travels the country in search of rare vintage items to sell to his buyers around the world. Here's Adrienne's review.

America's Lost Treasures (10pm, NGC) - Unfortunately, "History Detectives" (PBS) is in reruns, but "America's Lost Treasures" is a decent knockoff. In Kansas City, Mo., Curt Doussett investigates a revolver said to be once owned by Wild West outlaw Jesse James, while Kinga Phillipps examines a beaded bag that may have belonged to the Native American leader Geronimo.

What to Watch on Thursday: A Lionel-less 'Duets' debuts

Duets (8pm, ABC) - The premiere of yet another singing competition. This one previously had Lionel Richie attached, but after news broke that Richie owed the IRS some money, he suddenly had "scheduling conflicts" and was replaced by John Legend. And with that change, the show went -- for me -- from "must see" to "not really interested." The competition now has Kelly Clarkson, Legend, Jennifer Nettles and Robin Thicke searching for amateur singers to perform duets with. You know who sang the greatest duet of all time? Lionel Richie ("Endless Love" with Diana Ross).

So You Think You Can Dance (8pm, Fox) - Season 9 begins with auditions in Dallas and New York.

Awake (10pm, NBC) - In the series (nooo!) finale, Britten faces off against his conspirators as the entire police force moves in on him.

Rookie Blue (10pm, ABC) - In the Season 3 premiere, Andy returns to work following her three-month suspension. Later, a car accident caused by a drunken driver (William Shatner) leads to the reopening of a 7-year-old cold case.

J. Crew and the Man Who Dressed America (10pm, CNBC) - David Faber reports on the J. Crew clothing retailer, including the company's process of conceiving, creating and marketing a new line of clothing. Interviews with J. Crew's CEO Mickey Drexler and Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour. Here's Adrienne's review.

Men at Work (10pm, TBS) - A new sitcom about four male friends working together at a magazine while also working their way through the challenges of life, love, etc., etc. Here's the review.

SYTYCD: And the winner is...

Our "So You Think You Can Dance" correspondent Lenni G on last night's finale:

Great opening number featured the Top 20 doing a Sonya Tayeh routine. Have to say that Sonya was clearly the dominant choreographer this year, though Travis Wall, NappyTabs and Mandy Moore were certainly right up there as well.

The judges panel included Lil C, Robin Antin, Tyce Diorio, Sonya Tayeh, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Mary Murphy and Nigel. This time the judges' job was to choose their favorite routine of the season and have it done again. Even Cat got to pick her favorite group dance:  the Circus routine from Tyce Diorio. All fourteen of their selections were part of my favorites collection, with my favorite favorites being Tyce's "wall" number danced by Sasha and All Star Kent, Chris Scott's "angry couple having breakfast" featuring Sasha and Twitch, Melanie and Marko's "statue" routine from Travis Wall, and finally, the incredible Sonya Tayeh choreography for Melanie and Sasha that garnered the coveted "shoes" from Lady Gaga for both dancers and Sonya.

On to the results ...

SYTYCD: Some triumphs, some disasters

"So You Think You Can Dance" correspondent Lenni G tells us about part one of the season's two-part finale (and also, what she thinks about the planned "Dirty Dancing" remake):

Guest judges for the Finale were Katie Holmes and Kenny Ortega.  Clearly, Katie was chosen since she never says anything bad about anybody, and Kenny was picked cuz he's planning to remake "Dirty Dancing."  Kenny, you CANNOT remake "Dirty Dancing." No way, no how.  Don't even think about it.  We. will. not. go. to. see. it.
