The 2010 edition of the event, which begins Saturday, may have one of
the best groupings of top-prospects ever assembled for the event.

SSS' Parrish is hot

Tate Parrish, a pitcher and outfielder at Smithfield-Selma High, was incredible last week.

For the week, Parrish had nine hits in 11 official at-bats, picked up a pitching win and belted four home runs.

Parrish was 2-3 with a homer in a 14-3 Greater Neuse 4-A Conference win over Harnett Central.

He came back with three hits in four at-bats with two home runs in an 8-7 win over Princeton.

The University of North Carolina baseball recruit completed the week with four hits in four appearances in an 8-6 victory over West Johnston. Parrish threw a five-hitter for the win.

SSS football standout headed to Duke early

Smithfield-Selma standout running back Josh Snead has completed his
high school course work and will enroll at Duke for the spring
semester. Snead is moving onto campus at Duke today and begins classes on Wednesday.

Snead had been considering a possible early entry into the Blue
Devils' program since last summer, then briefly opened his recruiting
back up earlier in the fall. He's since decided to stick with his
original commitment to join David Cutcliffe's football program.

Snead led the Triangle area in rushing yards per game this past
season for the Spartans with 171.9 yards per game (1,891 yards for the
season). He also scored 24 rushing touchdowns.
