Look for three coupon inserts in Sunday's News & Observer.

There will be one Smart Source, one Red Plum and one P&G. The face value of the coupons is $178. But that's before everyday coupon doubling at Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods and Kroger -- not to mention the occasional super doubling and tripling that Harris Teeter offers.

As always, I'll post the best deals at the drugstores and Kroger about 5 a.m., the same time your Sunday paper hits your driveway. I'll also have the new coupons loaded into our coupon database.

This Sunday's N&O will have two coupon inserts: a Smart Source and a Red Plum.

There will be more than 100 new coupons with a face value of approximately $173, before doubling or tripling, of course.

Don't let the national coupon preview sites fool you. We'll be getting some great coupons here in the Triangle.

The coupon database has been updated with all 253 of the new coupons from the five inserts in today's News & Observer.

There are a lot of great coupons today, including some rare coupons on Pepsi products and Frito-Lay snacks in the Moments to Save insert.

But a big heads up: All the coupons in that insert are short-lived. They all expire on Oct. 22. Also take note of the .55.1 coupon on a single Pepsi Max 2 liter. It will not double. It clearly states "Do Not Double" and the coding begins with a 9.

Also, a big heads up on all the coupons expiring this week. There are a whopping 305 coupons with only a week of life left in them.  The vast majority of them will expire on Friday, Sept. 30.

So if you've got a deal in mind, don't let a key coupon expire on you.

There's FREE tabasco sauce, 52-cent packages of Keebler cookies and lots more deals. There's also an opportunity for significant savings on higher-priced items.
