What to Watch on Sunday: Time to get behind "Sherlock"

Sherlock: The Blind Banker (9pm, UNC-TV) - If this is half as good as last week's premiere episode, I'll be happy. Tonight, Holmes and Watson investigate a bank break-in that resulted in nothing stolen, but strange graffiti left behind. But the case leads to the discovery of a dead banker inside his locked flat that the police, though not Holmes, suspect was a suicide. Meanwhile, Watson applies for a part-time job and goes on a date, but thanks to Holmes, the evening doesn't go as planned.

Boardwalk Empire (9pm, HBO) - Nucky decides to renovate his childhood home after his father is injured in a fall, but the memories it dredges up are hard to handle. Also, a fellow veteran helps Jimmy get even with one of Charlie Sheridan's henchmen.

Dexter (9pm, Showtime) - Striving to bring some normalcy back into his life, Dexter figures the answer lies in finding a new serial killer to bring down. His quest gets thrown off course when his troubled new acquaintance (Julia Stiles) requires his help. For me personally, the jury is still out on this Julia Stiles storyline. Meanwhile, Quinn gets a tip about Dexter but isn't sure he can trust his source.

Brothers & Sisters (10pm, ABC) - When Kevin's relationship with Scotty is rocked by Scotty's admission of infidelity, the entire family is drawn into a dramatic confrontation. Also, Sarah and Jean Luc unveil their surprising news.

The Walking Dead (10pm, AMC) - A really superb new horror series from AMC that focuses on survivors in a world overrun by zombies. In this first episode, a sheriff's deputy (Andrew Lincoln, right) emerges from a coma to find flesh-eating "walkers" have taken over. With the help of a few living survivors, the lawman sets out to find his missing wife and son. It's remarkably well-done, but not for the squeamish. Here's more about how good -- and gross -- it is.

Luther (10pm, BBC America) - A young mother is abducted and Luther (Idris Elba) realizes it's the work of an occult writer who was suspected but never charged in the murder of another woman ten years earlier.

Must watch: "Sherlock" repeats on UNC-MX, UNC-TV

This past Sunday night, PBS's "Masterpiece Mystery!" debuted the first installment of their new "Sherlock" mini-series, "Sherlock: A Study in Pink."

Was it good? No, it was brilliant. It was "watch it two times" amazing. Seriously, if you missed it, you must watch this BBC-produced remake when it repeats October 28 and October 30. It's Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson as you've never seen them. Plus, how can you not watch a show starring someone named Benedict Cumberbatch?

"Sherlock: A Study in Pink" will air on UNC-MX at 9pm on Thursday, October 28. Then in the wee early hours of Saturday morning (2am), it airs on UNC-TV. It's also streaming on the PBS website.

The second installment, "Sherlock: The Blind Banker" will air Sunday night (October 31) at 9pm, and the final installment, "Sherlock: The Great Game" will air on November 7 at 9pm, all on UNC-TV (here's the full UNC-TV schedule).

What to Watch on Sunday: NASCAR VP goes undercover

Bermuda Triangle Exposed (8pm, TLC) - A TLC special explores what's beneath the Bermuda Triangle. Then at 9pm, "Return to the Bermuda Triangle" gives another look at the mysterious area in the Atlantic Ocean where a number of boats and aircraft have purportedly disappeared without a trace. This one includes footage ofa  dive expedition in the area.

Undercover Boss (9pm, CBS) - NASCAR senior vice president Steve Phelps (left) works undercover with a pit crew and with a ground's crew preparing for the Daytona 500. Here's more on Phelps' appearance on the show from Sporting News.

Sherlock: A Study in Pink (9pm, UNC-TV) - This witty "Masterpiece Mystery" series reimagines the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle sleuth as a "high-functioning sociopath" (Benedict Cumberbatch) in modern-day London who draws Afghanistan war vet Watson (Martin Freeman) into his orbit when they're paired together as potential flatmates by a mutual acquaintance. The pair's first case involves suicides that stump Inspector Lestrade (Rupert Graves) and a mysterious man who calls himself Sherlock's "arch-enemy."

Dexter (9pm, Showtime) - Dexter must deal with his unwanted conspirator while wondering if Rita's death and Harrison's exposure to it may have had a subconscious impact on the infant. Meanwhile, Quinn's suspension frees him up to look further into Dexter's background and possible involvement with the Trinity Killer case.

Boardwalk Empire (9pm, HBO) - Nucky blames a recent robbery on the boardwalk on Lucky Luciano, who is also accused by Arnold Rothstein of being distracted from his current assignment. Also, Margaret benefits from her new relationship with Nucky, and Jimmy hatches a plan to give Johnny Torrio the upper hand in his escalating feud with Charlie Sheridan over Chicago's Greektown.

Luther (10pm, BBC America) - I hope everyone is watching this riveting British crime series (only six episodes) starring Idris Elba. Tonight, a sniper is targeting police officers, but his motive is unclear. Also, Alice reveals what she knows about Madsen's arrest and threatens to let Zoe in on Luther's secret.

Bored to Death (10pm, HBO) - A poet-limo driver and his wife need Jonathan's help to shore up their relationship, and newly successful Ray (Zach Galifianakis) has a meeting with Kevin Bacon.
