No news on VT quarterbacks

Virginia Tech lost both Sean Glennon and Tyrod Taylor to ankle injuries in Saturday's 30-20 loss at Florida State.

The Hokies have 10 days to heal before Maryland visits Blacksburg on Thursday, Nov. 6. Quarterback-turned-receiver-turned-emergency-quarterback Cory Holt might have to start against the 25th-ranked Terps, according to The Roanoke Times.

Hokies go back to QB system in win

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Kenny Lewis Jr. caught a touchdown pass and ran for a score, and Virginia Tech went back to its two-quarterback system in a 24-7 victory against Furman on Saturday.

Darren Evans scored the third touchdown on a 3-yard run as the Hokies (1-1) made good on their plan to get their running game going. They accumulated 261 yards on the ground, including 112 by quarterback Tyrod Taylor, against the overmatched and outclassed Paladins (1-1).

Va. Tech to redshirt Taylor

Virginia Tech's quarterback position belongs to Sean Glennon. The Hokies will redshirt Tyrod Taylor and turn the offense over to Glennon, according to the Roanoke Times.

Glennon, a senior, and Taylor, a sophomore, split snaps in 2007 as the Hokies won the ACC title. The two battled during August practice for the No. 1 job. VT coach Frank Beamer said he preferred to use one quarterback this season.

By sidelining Taylor this season, the Hokies will have three more seasons with the versatile quarterback, starting in 2009.
