We're down to the last week of the regular season in girls soccer — and what a year it's been... Here's the conference standings, remaining games and what's at stake!

In Conf-2, Apex reigns supreme after a 11-7 win over Green Hope. The Cougars looked like they were going to lose star player Cawley Bromley, who suffered an injury during the game, but she should be back in action soon — as early as next week. Green Hope remains second in the conference AND the state despite the loss. Panther Creek is the closest with a 3-2 conference record. Middle Creek and Cary don't have a final score reported, and are therefore tied in fourth.

In Conf-3, our only local team Athens Drive is 0-2 and in fourth behind Broughton, Cardinal Gibbons and Wakefield.

Green Hope is perfect in Conf-2 competition, but don't let 7-0 fool you — this race is far from over. Green Hope has yet to play Holly Springs, which is 6-1 with a one-goal loss to Apex in the last 13 seconds. Apex has a one-goal loss to Green Hope.

Triton is the only other team with a winning record, but Middle Creek has the next-most conference wins with three.

Tri-Nine Softball Standings

Apex stays in first by virtue of a head-to-head win over Fuquay, and Fuquay is in second after a 9-0 win over Middle Creek. Holly Springs is fourth and owns the only Tri-Nine win over Apex this year, but the Hawks have lost to Lee County and Fuquay.

Athens is in the lead for fifth thanks to a 5-1 defeat of Cary.

It's still early in the season, and this week's games will determine a lot, but let's take a look at the girls soccer season as it stands now (conference standings posted at the bottom).

Here are the standings for the Tri-Nine Conference in girls and boys basketball, as well as wrestling, heading into tonight's games. Remember, the top five teams in basketball advance to the state playoffs, while only the top two get automatic bids in wrestling.
