Two local companies that have rewarded investors recently report earnings next week.
Salix Pharmaceuticals releases its quarterly results late Monday. The Morrisville drug maker has seen its shares more than double since early March amid investor optimism for its medicines to treat gastrointestinal ailments.
Late Tuesday, Durham LED maker Cree will issue its latest quarterly results. That company’s stock has doubled this year as demand swells for energy efficient lighting. Cree CEO Chuck Swoboda even met with President Barack Obama last month to discuss green lighting.
The real question, naturally, is whether Salix and Cree will report results that match or beat Wall Street expectations, which could add to their stocks’ momentum. Disappointing results could cause a sell-off.
