NCHSAA boys lacrosse playoff pairings

The boys lacrosse playoffs start this Friday. Holly Springs and Carrboro earned wild-card spots while Broughton, Jordan, Chapel Hill and Cardinal Gibbons are No. 1 seeds after winning their respective conferences.

East Chapel Hill, a 2-seed, is the defending East regional champ while Northwest Guilford is the defending state champion.

PAC-6 Basketball Tournament Pairings

Hillside managed to sweep the PAC-6 tournament titles, defeating Southern Durham in the girls championship by three points and getting a last-second basket to upset 1-seed Person for the boys championship.

Saturday marks 4th round of NCHSAA volleyball

Three rounds down, three more to go.

The NCHSAA volleyball playoffs are in the fourth round this Saturday, with each bracket down to eight teams in all and just four on the eastern half of the bracket.

We've posted what's left of the 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A East brackets below. The host team is on top.

Who's still alive? Green Hope, Riverside, Cardinal Gibbons, Chapel Hill, South Granville, N.C. Science & Math and Princeton.

Third round of NCHSAA volleyball playoffs

The third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association volleyball playoffs will be played Thursday night. Below show who is left in the 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A East brackets. In cases where teams have the same seed from different conferences, we've placed the host team on top.

There are several intriguing match-ups left in each area.

McCallie going to Miami of Ohio

Riverside senior Maddie McCallie, daughter of Duke women's basketball coach Joanne P. McCallie, has comitted to play at Miami of Ohio, per ESPN's HoopGurlz recruiting website.

Four boys lacrosse teams ranked in top 10

Four Triangle boys lacrosse teams are ranked among the state's top 10 for this week, led by undefeated Cardinal Gibbons.

Apex lacrosse teams lead the Triangle's ranked

There is no weekly coaches or media statewide weekly poll in North Carolina high school lacrosse.

In its place is a mathematical formula by laxpower.com. Much like the RPI in college basketball, the formula takes into account several factors, and the teams change position with each game.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Triangle girls and boys lacrosse teams were well-represented in the poll.
