Depending on how you look at it, here's some positive news for Tar Heel fans today. Former Carolina basketball hotshot (and also Celtics/Lakers hotshot) Rick Fox will be competing on "Dancing with the Stars" this season, according to E! Online.

DWTS usually prefers ex-NFL players, but they did let NBA Hall of Famer Clyde "The Glide" Drexler compete a few seasons ago (he didn't do so well).

Fox played at UNC from 1988-1991, leading the Heels to the Final Four in '91. He then played for 13 years for the Boston Celtics and the LA Lakers. Fox has also dabbled in acting. He's had small roles in "Oz," "One Tree Hill," "Melrose Place," "Dirt," "Ugly Betty," "Party Down," and "The Game." Fox was married to actress Vanessa Williams from 1999 to 2005. Fox is reportedly now dating actress Eliza Dushku ("Dollhouse").

E! is also reporting that Brisol Palin, David Hasselhoff, Brandy, The Situation, Michael Bolton, Jennifer Grey, Audrina Patridge, and Florence Henderson will be on "Dancing with the Stars." ABC will make the official announcement Monday night.
