Site offers a new way to find salvaged building supplies

Debris from construction and demolition (C&D) accounts for more than 136 million tons of waste per year — about 40 percent of solid waste — according to the EPA. The N.C. C&D Material Trader Web site will divert reusable building materials from landfills.
To use the Web site simply create an account and post listings for what you need or what you want to get rid of. And if you're worried about how this might affect Habitat for Humanity, that organization will be able to use the site to market its own inventory.
The Web site was launched today by the nonprofit Reuse Alliance and funding comes from a partnership between the North East Recycling Council and the U.S. EPA Region 1. To find the site, go here.
