Wednesday grocery deals, Feb. 13-19

There are lots of great deals at Triangle grocery stores this week:

Among the best deals at Harris Teeter: free Chicken of the Sea tuna, free Old El Paso seasonings, 10-cent Liberte yogurt, 31-cent Pillsbury rolls, 49-cent Gorton's fish and Mrs. Butterworth's syrup for 89 cents.

Lowes Foods is offering a deal on discounted gift cards, a gasoline rewards promotion, and a 10 for $10 sale with coupon match-ups that drop prices on many items to 50 cents.

Food Lion has great deals this week on Gala apples, limes, Fresh Express or Dole bagged salad, Roma tomatoes and avocados.

At Aldi, the deals on fresh fruit are fantastic: pineapple and cantaloupe are 99 cents each, as are 16-oz. packages of strawberries, 6-oz. packages of blueberries and 2-lb. bags of lemons. If you've been on the fence about trying Aldi, this is the week to go.

Keep reading for a long list of this week's top deals at Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods, Food Lion and Aldi -- with and without coupons.

Two coupon inserts coming in Sunday's N&O

Look for two coupon inserts -- one hefty Smart Source and one Red Plum -- in this Sunday's home-delivered Final Edition of The News & Observer.

There will be a total of  129 coupons with a face value of more than $170 -- and that's before every-day double coupons, which we're fortunate to have at Kroger, Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods.

I'll have the coupon database updated and the best Sunday deals posted early Sunday morning, about the same time your paper hits the driveway. That way, you'll have the most complete and up-to-date coupon information for the Triangle at your finger tips.

Please note: Single-copy and State Edition papers may not contain all coupon inserts.

Reminder: Free bagel and cream cheese at Bruegger's on Thursday, Feb. 7

It's Bruegger's birthday, but customers are the ones getting the gifts.

Stop in before 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb.7, and you'll receive a free bagel and cream cheese of your choice.

All you need is a coupon.

Database updated with Sunday's new coupons

The News & Observer's  coupon database has been updated with Sunday's new coupons.

The home-delivered Final Edition of The News & Observer contains two inserts -- one Smart Source and one Red Plum -- for a total of 102 coupons with a face value of more than $130.

Not familiar with the coupon database? You can access it on the right-hand side of the blog. There's a button at the bottom right to view it as a full-size page.

Or, you can download it as an Excel spreadsheet by clicking on the attachment at the bottom of this post.

It's a handy tool, giving you the most timely and detailed list of coupons in the Triangle.

Coupon on fresh grapefruit is back

The printable coupon on fresh grapefruit is back.

This time around you can print it on RedPlum.com.

The coupon is for $2 off the purchase of any 5-pound bag of fresh Florida grapefruit or 54-ounce or larger 100% grapefruit juice.

Print it today and use it on the last day of Lowes Foods Super Doubles. Or save it for a sale on grapefruit.

Coupons for produce are rare so I recommend printing it before it reaches its limit and is pulled from the site.

New Sunday coupons = new deals at Lowes Foods Super Doubles

The new coupons in Sunday's N&O provide a whole new opportunity to score deals during Lowes Foods Super Double coupon promotion.

Below are a few of the new deals I spotted -- at least two new freebies and more than a dozen more items under $1.

Please add any great bargains you've found so we can all save more. Thanks in advance for your help.

Database updated with Sunday's new coupons

The News & Observer's  coupon database has been updated with all of the new coupons -- and there were a bunch.

This Sunday's home-delivered Final Edition of The News & Observer contains four inserts -- one Smart Source, two Red Plum and a P&G -- for a total of 242 coupons with a face value of more than $280.

That's before you double the first coupon, of course, which we have the opportunity to do every day of the week at Kroger, Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods.

And this week, Lowes Foods is "super doubling" coupons with a face value $2 or less -- so this is perfect timing. Check for a separate post on the blog matching Sunday's new coupons with prices at Lowes Foods.

There will be a combined total of more than 240 coupons with a face value of more than $280, along with a rebate or two.

As always, I'll have the coupon database updated and the very best of the drugstore and Kroger deals posted early Sunday morning. That way, you'll have the most complete and up-to-date coupon information for the Triangle at your finger tips
