SYTYCD: The night of the wanton vulture

"So You Think You Can Dance" correspondent Lenni G on last night's show:

Guest judges for the night were Sonya Tayeh, which makes sense since she's a choreographer, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson, which didn't seem to make any sense since he's one of the stars of "Modern Family," which is not a show about dancing. That said, Jesse did a fabulous job -- really, really sharp JTF!

This was the last night for the couples to dance together before the show breaks them up and puts each of them with an All Star. So, it was only fair that each couple did two routines, starting with ...

SYTYCD: Where in the world is Carmen Electra?

"So You Think You Can Dance" correspondent Lenni G fills us in on last night's elimination:

Show opener was a very energetic Bollywood group number from Nakul Dev Manajan. I noticed there were only six guys, not seven. Seems Chris had become dehydrated learning his couple's dance and was told by the doctors not to participate. Poor Chris just can't catch a break.

MYSTERY OF THE NIGHT - Judges are introduced and Carmen Electra is missing! Where is Carmen Electra? Was this just a one night stand for her? No explanation was asked for and none was given. Strange, really strange.

SYTYCD: A night of new choreographers and zombies

Our "So You Think You Can Dance" correspondent Lenni G on last night's episode:

Guest judges last night - Travis Wall, runner-up from season 2 of SYTYCD and fantastic choreographer, and Carmen Electra, former wife of Dennis Rodman. Really folks, Carmen Electra was the guest judge!!!!

The evening started with a group number from the seven guys choreographed by Justin Giles. Each guy represented one of the seven stages of grief - shock, anger, denial, depression, guilt, agony and acceptance. Interesting concept.

SYTYCD: Dancer improves, but not enough to avoid elimination

Our "So You Think You Can Dance" blogger, Lenni G, has a recap of last night's elimination show:

Another nice opening number from the Top 16 danced to the music from "The Incredibles."  AND, a new fashion statement from Cat Deeley -- a sparkly pastie applied to her upper, middle chest area. Very interesting!

The guest entertainers were fantastic. The AXIS Dance Group features performers with and without disabilities. A truly brilliant concept brought to life last night by a guy in a wheelchair and a fully able gal. Very impressive!

We also got to see the American and World Champion Theatrical Ballroom dancers, Eric Luna and Georgia Ambarian, do their thing. Very WOW!

On to the results . . .

SYTYCD: The beasts and the boys do their best

Guest blogger Lenni G. recaps last night's action:

The evening started with a group number featuring eight of the sixteen dancers, all without their "natural" partners.  The choreography from Tyce Diorio was all about the girls "kicking the boys booties."  Um, interesting concept, and probably inspired by Nigel's earlier comments that the girls are the "Beasts" of this season.  OK, fine.

On to natural couples and couple dances -

First up, Sasha and Alexander did a contemporary routine from Dee Caspary that featured a piano.  Nigel called it a good start, telling Sasha she is the "princess of dance."  He was not as kind to Alexander, telling him that he needs to work on connecting with the audience, though his dancing was terrific.  Mary loved the choreography, which was really unique. Guest judge, Kristin Chenoweth, loved both dancers.  Lil C, sitting in as the fourth judge, said it was the "representation of how mellifluous the piano keys are."  Alrighty then.  I loved the very last part where Sasha took up residence inside the piano, with only her hands showing on the keyboard.

SYTYCD: Results show results in enraged blogger

Our "So You Think You Can Dance" correspondent Lenni G is not happy with last night's elimination show! Will she quit on us?? Here's what she says:

I thought last night's judges' picks for elimination sucked! I'm still trying to figure out some way to express my displeasure that will be printable on the blog. OK, here's what I came up with...

The night started so well with a Dave Scott routine danced by the Top 20 with music from all-time legend, Nina Simone. Even the guest entertainers were mostly tolerable. And then it all went south, way south.

Scotty Watch: 'American Idol' recap - Scotty wins!

It was brought to my attention that perhaps my recap of last night's show was a little biased toward Garner's Scotty McCreery.

Here is my perfectly reasoned response to that allegation: I don't care.

That's sort of my attitude tonight, too. I hope Scotty wins and I think he deserves to win, especially in spite of 'Idol' shenanigans last night. If my recap reflects a little "homer" lean to it, then come on and lean with me, why don't you?

Tonight's show promises to be a real spectacle. In addition to Scotty and Lauren Alaina, we'll reportedly get to see U2, Spider-Man, Lady Gaga, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Tony Bennett, Judas Priest, and Jack Black. It's rumored that Aerosmith and Jennifer Lopez could also perform. Somewhere in there, someone (please be Scotty) will be crowned the next American Idol.

And it's showtime...

In final show, Oprah sends a love letter to me (and you too)

Coolest thing about Oprah's final show: She gave me her email address!

That's right. I can send a note to oprah@oprah.com and I might get a personal message from Oprah and she might read my email. At Happiness, we thought this opened up a lot of possibilites.

SUBJECT LINE: HEY

Hey, Oprah! What's up?

Other than that, Oprah's final show was, she said, a love letter to us, her viewers. But it was also our final lesson from a teacher who was also taught by us in the world's biggest classroom. And it was kind of a review session to make sure we got the major points of our 25 year-long course. For those reluctantly enrolled in O University, the final show was easy to mock. Those with an O graduate degree, earned credits toward a PhD.

'Dancing with the Stars' finale: Lots of love for the big winner

Our 'Dancing with the Stars' correspondents Chuck Small and Lenni G have been on the job with great DWTS recaps for us throughout Season 12. In this final week of performances, both Chuck and Lenni G will weigh in with their thoughts on the episodes -- both the Monday night performance episode and Tuesday night's finale. Chuck recapped last night's show, and now Lenni gives us her parting thoughts.

It was the final night of the "Brawl for the Ball," featuring featuring "Little Miss Dynamite," Chelsea, "Ray of Sunshine," Hines, and "Rising from the Ashes," Kirstie.  There was lots of other stuff too which my co-blogger, Chuck, has very ably covered in his post

My favorite "other stuff" - Petra and Dmitry reprising their dance to "You Raise Me Up" with a real live Josh Grobin doing the singing.

'Dancing with the Stars' finale: And the winner is . . .

Our 'Dancing with the Stars' correspondents Chuck Small and Lenni G have been on the job with great DWTS recaps for us throughout Season 12. In this final week of performances, both Chuck and Lenni G will weigh in with their thoughts on the episodes -- both the Monday night performance episode and tonight's finale. Here's Chuck's recap and big news on this season's winner:

Tonight's voter competitions couldn't be more different: On "American Idol," two teen competitors (one of whom is a local favorite) square off to be the next singing sensation. Meanwhile, on the season 12 finale of "Dancing With the Stars," only one of the three competitors left is anywhere close to teenager-hood, and one of the musical guests -- The Go-Gos -- were popular when I was in college (hmm ... three decades ago!).

So, where will things go tonight? I predicted last night that this was Hines and Kym's to lose after their amazing "Drumline" freestyle. Do they follow through on that promise, or do they somehow lose out to Chelsea and Mark or Kirstie and Maks?
