"Breaking In" could be just what Christian Slater needs

TV hasn't been very kind to Christian Slater, but I think with "Breaking In" (Fox, 9:30 tonight) he's getting out of his slump.

He's the name in the half-hour comedy, but he's not the focus. It's a team effort and it uses just enough Slater in just the right way. It's not yet a great show, but it's totally enjoyable and rife with potential.

At the center is Bret Harrison ("Reaper") as Cameron, a college slacker (again) and ace computer hacker who gets busted by Oz (Slater) who helms a firm that companies hire to break into their businesses and expose security breaches. Oz forces Cameron to join his firm or face exposure and explusion from college.

You might want to adopt the "Sons of Tucson"

If were a fan of the WB's short-lived "Reaper" and especially of the character Sock, you might want to check out "Sons of Tucson" (Fox, 9:30 tonight).

Tyler Lapine, who played Sock, pretty much plays the same manic, snarky lovable loser in his part as Ron Snuffkin, a man living in his car and working at a sports store, who gets hired by three kids to pose as their father, because their wealthy banker father is in prison (mom's long gone).

The deal starts out as a one-day arrangement to get them into school, but  three school-age boys, even ones whose father has left them in a 3000-square-foot house and with plenty of stolen money, need an adult around.

What to Watch on Friday: Devilishly clever casting on "Psych"

Making Over America with Trinny and Susannah (10pm, TLC) - A single mother who is also an Iraq war veteran thinks her provocative style is sexy, but the British style mavens set her straight.

Real Time with Bill Maher (10pm, HBO) - Where else can you see Bill Moyers and Jay-Z on the same discussion panel?

Psych (10pm, USA) - Shawn and Gus are hired by their former teacher to investigate the death of a student, a death he thinks was the work of the devil. Nice twist: the teacher is portrayed by Ray Wise (right), who actually played Satan for two seasons on The CW's funny-but-cancelled show, "Reaper." You probably also recognize Wise as Leland Palmer from "Twin Peaks."
