The Triangle area now boasts three top-ranked girls soccer teams.

Green Hope has surpassed Leesville Road as the top-ranked 4-A girls soccer team in the state. The move comes after Green Hope's 3-2 overtime win over Apex (a team that Leesville tied 0-0).

Cardinal Gibbons is still the top-ranked 3-A team in the state.

Dave Telep's Carolina Challenge is a one-day basketball showcase that will be held Saturday at Ravenscroft. Eighty of the top boys high school basketball players in North Carolina will participate in the event.

Games begin at 9:30 a.m. The final games of the day start at 5:20 p.m.

Word of God boys and girls, Cary Christian girls and Ravenscroft boys play in NCISAA semifinals today.

Joell Hopkins of Ravenscroft and Mickayla Sanders of Cary Academy are the TISAC players of the year.

The Raleigh Word of God Christian Academy boys basketball teams, the top seeds in the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A tournament, safely advanced through the first round of the tournament on Tuesday.

Also playing in Thursday's quarter finals are: Cary Christian girls, St. David's boys, Cary Academy girls, Durham Academy girls and Ravenscroft boys.

Undefeated Garner remains atop the N&O boys high school basketball rankings.

Ravenscroft (23-3) is the No. 3 seed in the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association boys basketball playoffs that begin on Tuesday. The Ravens have a first-round bye.
