Montrose defense stops Ravenscroft

Ravenscroft had a hard time scoring Thursday against an exceptional Rockville (Md.) Montrose Christian club and lost 64-48 in the first round of the ESPNHS National High School Invitational basketball tournament in Bethesda, Md.

Ravens picked for national basketball tournament

The Ravenscroft boys basketball team will have a chance to play for the ESPNHS National High School Invitational championship later this month.

NCISAA basketball playoffs scheduled

The N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association basketball playoffs are set to start, and conclude, this week.

Aside from the opening rounds, which will be played Tuesday at higher seeds, Raleigh is the host of this year's tournaments.

Thursday's second quarterfinals, Friday's semifinals and Saturday's championships will be held at North Raleigh Christian Academy (1A), St. David's School (2A) and Ravenscroft (3A).

Among the top area teams in this year's field: Ravenscroft's boys (2-seed, 3A), Cary Academy girls (5-seed, 3A), Durham's Carolina Friends girls (2-seed, 2A), Cary Christian's girls (5-seed, 2A), Word of God boys (3-seed, 1A), St. David's girls (9-seed, 2A).

TISAC boys, girls basketball tournament bracket

This year's Triangle Independent Schools Athletic Conference boys and girls basketball tournament played its semifinals and finals at Cary Academy.

Ravenscroft provided a sweep in the tournament finals, getting a blowout against the North Raleigh Christian boys but a tight back-and-forth game against 1-seed Cary Academy girls.

Durham Academy freshman Eliza Dekker won the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association girls’ state cross country title and set the tone for Triangle-area schools in chilly conditions on Saturday at McAlpine Park.

After Dekker’s victory, the titles kept coming.

NCISAA fall playoffs down to two days

The N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association playoffs go by fast. Other than football, the postseason for all fall sports started either Tuesday or last Friday and they will all end this weekend (again, other than football).
