What to Watch on Wednesday: Season enders for 'Southland' and 'Suburgatory'

Locked Up Abroad (9pm, National Geographic Channel) - The seventh season opens with a profile of two American soldiers who were kept as POWs during the Vietnam War: Ernie Brace and John McCain. A new episode at 10 focuses on a reptile smuggler.

Suburgatory (8pm, ABC) - Season 2 ends with two new episodes. At 8, George breaks the news to Tessa that he has sold their house. At 8:30, Shelia pushes a chastity campaign in Chatswin, and Tessa moves out when George buys Dallas her dream home.

Southland (10pm, TNT) - In the Season 5 finale, John (Michael Cudlitz, right) deals with fallout from his kidnapping. Also, Lydia tracks John's kidnappers while becoming more intimate with an old friend and Sammy draws closer to robbers. Nothing is official, but it's looking like this could be the final season for "Southland" (several stars have signed up for new series). If it's really over, I'll miss it like crazy -- it's one of the absolute best shows on television -- but I'm also so grateful TNT picked it up after it was dumped by NBC.

Psych (10pm, USA) - Shawn revisits a case involving a mysterious Swedish woman and imagines how he'd do things differently at the start of his investigation.

The Americans (10pm, FX) - Elizabeth requires Philip's help to complete a dangerous mission.

Off Pitch (10pm, VH1) - The highs and lows of a Wisconsin-based show choir called the Grand River Singers are charted in this new reality show.

The Americans (10pm, FX) - American scientists are targeted by an assassin, who is in turn hunted by Philip and Elizabeth.

Psych (10pm, USA) - Shawn tries to befriend Juilet's stepfather, a seemingly tame accountant.

Chicago Fire (10pm, NBC) - Mills presses Severide for information about his father's death, and two mysterious diner fires are investigated.

What to Watch on Wednesday: A musical 'Neighbors' episode with an Oscar pedigree

The Neighbors (8:30pm, ABC) - The Bird-Kersees see a Broadway show in New York City, and Larry is so inspired he decides to create a musical of his own, but a 911 call after an emergency tests the limits of their contact with the outside world. The episode features original songs by Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken ("The Little Mermaid").

The Americans (10pm, FX) - Philip reunites with an old flame, straining his already troubled relationship with Elizabeth.

Southland (10pm, TNT) - John mulls over the life he'll have once he leaves the LAPD, and Lydia bonds with a man she sent to death row in the past. Also, an annoyed Sammy becomes a tabloid celebrity in the wake of a heroic act, and Ben makes a questionable decision while tracking a drug dealer.

Psych (10pm, USA) - Shawn and Gus team up with college students filming a documentary about Bigfoot in the woods.

Restaurant Stakeout (10pm, Food) - In the third season opener, the married owners of Hot Rods Real Pit BBQ in Wharton, N.J., ask Willie for advice on how to improve their business, which he learns is suffering because of negative attitudes and lack of training. I recently watched this show for the first time and it stressed me out so much.

What to Watch on Wednesday: A night of cops and spies, plus the return of 'Psych'

College Basketball: Boston College at N.C. State (8pm, WRAL) - Regular CBS programming will be disrupted, so you'll want to set your recording device to pick up "Survivor" at 1:37 a.m. and "Criminal Minds" at 2:37 a.m. on WRAL.

Law & Order: SVU (9pm, NBC) - In the episode many are calling the "Chris Brown/Rihanna episode," an up-and-coming singer is beaten by her famous boyfriend, but she won't assist in the prosecution.

Boston's Finest (9pm, TNT) - A new reality series following the work and personal lives of Boston cops. It's co-executive produced by Donnie Wahlberg, who also narrates the series.

Suburgatory (9:30pm, ABC) - The death of Marty profoundly affects George as he and Noah wonder what to do with his ashes. Meanwhile, Tessa examines her college plans and her relationship with Ryan, who may not be as honest as he seems.

Psych (10pm, USA) - The Season 7 premiere picks up after last season's big cliff-hanger episode, as Shawn (James Roday, right) seeks revenge for Henry's shooting. The big question: Did Henry survive the gunshot? "Psych" has already been renewed for an eighth season.

Southland (10pm, TNT) - I'm still not over last week's stunning episode. This week, the LAPD's dispatch system breaks down and Ben and Sammy's partnership is tested. Also, Lydia contacts her old beau and Ben finds romance on the job.

The Americans (10pm, FX) - A network of KGB informants is threatened. Meanwhile, Philip and Elizabeth are tasked with infiltrating the FBI's communications-encryption system.

Stranded (10pm, Syfy) - A new reality series in which real people who are fascinated by the paranormal are left stranded at a haunted location and record their experiences. The first episode features a Philadelphia woman, her ex-boyfriend a mutual friend braving a stay at the Oceanic Hotel on Star Island in New Hampshire.

Blah "Common Law" offers another set of bickering buddies

The appetite for the buddy cop genre is voracious or at least that's what TV folk seem to think. Certainly it's a fav of the USA network.

So the home of "Psych" and "White Collar" brings us "Common Law" (10 tonight, USA), a too cute, too blah show about police partners with a relationship so difficult the department sends them to couples therapy.

That's where we meet Travis (Michael Ealy) and Wes (Warren Kole); their therapist, Dr. Ryan (Sonya Walger), is having a session with them and other married couples. Naturally, there comes a point where they have to explain they aren't in that kind of partnership.

What to Watch on Wednesday: 'The B in Apartment 23.' Trust me.

Nova: Deadliest Tornadoes (9pm, UNC-TV) - A look at the science behind the April 2011 tornado outbreak in the U.S., which saw more than 360 people killed from hundreds of twisters.

Modern Family (9pm, ABC) - All ABC comedies are back tonight. It's election day on "Modern Family," so the Dunphys are all campaigning and Claire has technical problems during last-minute interviews. Be sure to stay tuned for ...

Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 (9:30pm, ABC) - A very funny new sitcom about an optimistic girl from the midwest who moves to New York and finds herself a roommates who "has the morals of a pirate." The best part (and there are many wonderful parts) is the evil roomie's best friend is James Van Der Beek, playing himself. Check out my review.

Law & Order: SVU (10pm, NBC) - A closed rape case of Benson's is reopened because of its similarities to a new case, and the possibility of wrongful imprisonment surfaces. As Benson's work is questioned, tension develops between her, ADA Haden and Bayard Ellis.

CSI (10pm, CBS) - A man Nick helped  put in prison gets his conviction overturned and will be released, unless the CSIs can uncover new evidence to prove he is guilty.

Psych (10pm, USA) - In the Season 6 finale, Gus and Henry reopen a murder investigation when the victim's body finally surfaces after 20 years.

Revenge (10pm, ABC) - There's no new "Revenge" tonight, but there is a recap special.

What to Watch on Wednesday: NBC premieres 'Bent' sitcom

Criminal Minds (9pm, CBS) - The BAU searches for a kidnapper after an emaciated boy is found in an Arizona desert and another boy disappears.

Bent (9pm, NBC) - Here's what NBC does whenever they get a good new comedy: they barely promote it and then burn off the episodes really fast. I hope this isn't what they are doing with "Bent," but it sure feels like it. "Bent" is about a super chill contractor dude (David Walton) who tries to charm a newly divorced, high strung single mom (Amanda Peet) while he and his crew work on her home. Also stars JB Smoove, Jeffrey Tambor, and Jesse Plemons, who played Landry on "Friday Night Lights."  Episodes air at 9 and 9:30. Note: The other two funny NBC sitcoms that never got a decent chance -- "100 Questions" and "Perfect Couples" -- also starred David Walton.

Happy Endings (9:30pm, ABC) - As much as I'm getting behind "Bent," I do not condone skipping "Happy Endings" at 9:30!! Tonight, Dave becomes the target of a bully at his gym, so onetime bully Alex coaches him on how to work out his problems.

Duck Dynasty (10pm, A&E) - In the premiere episode of this new reality show about a Louisiana family who operate a thriving business manufacturing duck-hunting gear, Willie gets fed up with the lax work attitudes of other family members. The male members of the Robertson family look like they stepped straight out of a "Sons of Anarchy" casting call.

Psych (10pm, USA) - Shawn and Gus team up with members of Gus' former a cappella group to investigate the shooting of a prominent leader of an at-risk youth group.

What to Watch on Wednesday: 'Modern Family' sends out a clown

Survivor: One World (8pm, CBS) - No chance tonight's episode is as bat-poo crazy as last week, with Colton's stunning tribal council move. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Modern Family (9pm, ABC) - Cameron has a reunion with his estranged clown partner at a funeral for their former mentor, and Phil gets bullied by a real estate rival when he tries to land an important listing. All the ABC comedies are new tonight. "Happy Endings" is always especially joyous.

Interior Therapy with Jeff Lewis (9pm, Bravo) - In this spin-off of "Flipping Out,"  Jeff Lewis revamps homes while also trying to transform the personal lives of the people who live in them. Also stars Jeff's assistant Jenni Poulos and his housekeeper Zoila Chavez.

Criminal Minds (9pm, CBS) - Married couples living in Seattle are murdered. Meanwhile, Garcia fears a proposal from Kevin is imminent.

Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy (9pm, History) - Larry profiles folks committed to catching various animals and critters. Among his stops is a visit with a man who uses GPS-enhanced dogs to track feral pigs.

Psych (10pm, USA) - Shawn and Gus go undercover to investigate an attack on a reality-TV contestant who appeared on a dating show in which men compete for the affections of a woman they've crossed paths with, but never actually met.

Face Off (10pm, Syfy) - In the Season 2 finale, the three finalists must each create three original characters from a specific genre that will perform in a routine at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, California.
