Donate a prom dress or get one free

The N&O's Trianglemom2mom.com has some good news for those who want to go to prom but not might able to afford a new dress or if you have a dressor two that you need to get out of your closet.

Here's what's posted on the blog ...

Apex United Methodist Church will have Prom Shoppe on Saturday for girls who can't afford to purchase their own dress. The shop has about 50 gowns from church members and the community but they need more. They'll take bridesmaid dresses, cocktail dresses or any kind of fancier frock.

You can drop the dresses off at the church all day today until about 7 p.m.

"Cinderella Project" back again with free prom gowns

Fashion students at Meredith College are back again, ready to spend the next two weekends making sure no girl goes without a prom gown this year.

The school's annual Cinderella Project starts Saturday at North Hills near Charlotte's. Students in need can go to the temporary store for a free, gently used dress. And they'll even get some free advice from the fashion students about what dresses works best with certain body types.

The store is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Any high school student can pick a dress. There's no fee for participation. The store will open again March 28 during the same hours.

Have a dress to donate? Meredith students want those too. They'll be collecting used prom gowns through March 27 in Martin Hall on campus, room 204, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

They ask that all prom dresses are no more than five years old. And no thanks on the bridesmaid dresses!
