What to Watch on Tuesday: A winner on 'The Voice' and tension on 'Twisted'

Pretty Little Liars (8pm, ABC Family) - "A" almost kills Mona. Meanwhile, Aria takes self-defense lessons, Alison's mom gives Hanna a parrot, and Toby reveals a poignant secret to Spencer.

So You Think You Can Dance (8pm, Fox) - The top 20 dancers are introduced.

The Voice (9pm, NBC) - The winning singer is revealed in tonight's finale.

Twisted (9pm, ABC Family) - Danny and Jo's families have dinner together, and the evening is full of tension. Also, a grief counselor tries to help the students at school, but Lacey struggles with her emotions when Phoebe reaches out to her. This new series stars Denise Richards and Avan Jogia, pictured here.

Blood and Oil (10pm, Discovery) - A man struggles with the loss of his father in the opener of this new series, in which a family business competes with bigger corporations in the Ohio oil industry.

Chopped (10pm, Food) - Earthy ingredients, including chia seeds and dandelion greens, are found in the appetizer basket. The chefs' entree dishes must highlight tempeh and desserts will be made from a local sweetener and a fresh berry.

So You Think You Can Dance (8pm, Fox) - The contestants go to Las Vegas for callbacks to compete for a spot in the Top 20.

Pretty Little Liars (8pm, ABC Family) - In the Season 4 opener, the girls, desperate to uncover what new scheme "A" has in store for them, team up with Mona for answers. Meanwhile, Aria struggles with seeing Ezra after their breakup, and Emily starts making plans for after high school. Also, "A" sets Toby on a new path, and a shocking discovery reverberates through the town.

The Voice (8pm, NBC) - Someone is eliminated in tonight's live semi-final results show.

Jimmy Kimmel Live (8pm, ABC) - Jimmy Kimmel's NBA Finals pre-game show features Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock and David Spade. Game 3 between the Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs starts at 9.

Awkward (10pm, MTV) - Collin invites Jenna to a photography showcase at his house, causing tension between her and Matty.

Frontline (10pm, UNC-TV) - A repeat of an episode from earlier this season examining the civil war in Syria through the eyes of rebel fighters, government soldiers and civilians caught up in the conflict in Idlib province.

What to Watch on Tuesday: 'Hell's Kitchen' serves up eleventh season

Pretty Little Liars (8pm, ABC Family) - Emily wants to help Spencer by proving her wrong, while Spencer researches Mona's stint in the sanitarium.

Hell's Kitchen (8pm, Fox) - The 11th season opens with 20 aspiring restaurateurs presenting signature dishes in Las Vegas, where they split into two teams to try to impress chef Gordon Ramsay (right).

Justified (10pm, FX) - The newly revealed Drew Thompson avoids capture as Raylan, Boyd and the Detroit mob race to find him.

Preacher's Daughters (10pm, Lifetime) - A new reality series about the lives of three teens whose parents are pastors. In tonight's opener, one girl questions the paternity of her daughter and another asks her parents for permission to start dating.

Smash (10pm, NBC) - Derek and Karen reach a turning point, so one of them makes a tough decision. Meanwhile, problems emerge in Jerry and Eileen's partnership, and complications arise at the "Hit List" debut a the Fringe Festival.

Body of Proof (10pm, ABC) - After his son is gunned down, a New York City mob boss threatens revenge, and when an early suspect is found dead, Megan and her team begin to believe the carnage has just begun.

Cougar Town (10pm, TBS) - Bobby has a fling with a woman he meets at a superstore, and Jules spends time with her therapist after realizing her friends have been keeping secrets.

Hart of Dixie (8pm, CW) - Zoe grows very protective of Rose. Elsewhere, money goes missing during a church fundraiser, and fingers are pointed at Wade.

Pretty Little Liars (8pm, ABC Family) - Aria, Emily and Hanna search for Spencer, unsure if she went off on her own or if "A" is behind her disappearance.

The New Normal (9:30pm, NBC) - Bryan basks in the Halloween spirit by decorating the house, going to a pumpkin patch to spot celebrities, and ruling over everyone's costumes.

White Collar (10pm, USA) - In the Season 4 finale, the guys are almost able to retrieve the evidence box from the Empire State Building, but their efforts are impeded by Senator Pratt, who hired FBI agents to find the box first.

Justified (10pm, FX) - Boyd realizes he has unfinished business to resolve, while Raylan goes dynamite fishing (not really).

Golden Boy (10pm, CBS) - A pretty thief tries to keep herself out of jail by giving Clark information about a murdered drug addict and her missing child.

Vikings (10pm, History) - If you missed Sunday night's premiere, this first episode of a new series chronicling the medieval adventures of a band of Norsemen is repeating just for you.

What to Watch on Tuesday: 'Pioneers of Television' returns with look at female comedians

Pretty Little Liars (8pm, ABC Family) - Aria, Emily and Spencer think Mona has regressed to her old bad behavior, but they have no proof, and Hanna has doubts about their claim.

Pioneers of Television (8pm, UNC-TV) - The Season 3 premiere spotlights female comedians, including stand-ups Phyllis Diller and Joan Rivers, and sitcom stars like Lucille Ball, Marla Gibbs, Mary Tyler Moore and Betty White. Also, Carol Burnett shares stories about her variety show, and there is commentary from Margaret Cho and Tina Fey.

Ben and Kate (8:30pm, Fox) - Tommy introduces his new girlfriend to the gang, and Kate tries to get to know her better. Meanwhile, Ben works on his Rail Mail business plan.

Go On (9pm, NBC) - Ryan decides to go on his first date, but snowboarder Shaun White (playing himself) ends up being his romantic rival.

Real Husbands of Hollywood (10pm, BET) - The lives of a group of Hollywood husbands are tracked in this semi-scripted reality show spoof starring Kevin Hart, JB Smoove, Robin Thicke and others. In tonight's premiere, Kevin kicks a fellow hubby out of a weekly poker game. Adrienne reviews.

Parenthood (10pm, NBC) - Victor's adoption deadline nears, prompting Julia and Joel to reconsider their family's future. Also, Mark tells Sarah and Hank that he intends to win Sarah back.

Justified (10pm, FX) - Raylan tangles with members of a dangerous family, and Boyd targets an unusual preacher.

Frontline: Inside Obama's Presidency (10pm, UNC-TV) - An examination of President Barack Obama's first term, including his battles with Republicans over health care reform and the economy, and his expansion of the targeted killings of enemies.

Second Generation Wayans (10:30pm, BET) - Nephews of the comedic Wayans brothers seek their own success in Hollywood in this new comedy series starring Damien Dante Wayans and Craig Wayans.

What to Watch on Tuesday: A murder trial in 'Pretty Little Liars' summer finale

Republican National Convention - Primetime convention coverage on broadcast networks begins at 10 p.m. tonight. If you want wall-to-wall coverage, your best bet is to head online or to cable. Tonight's highlights include speeches from Ann Romney, Govs. Chris Christie (N.J.), Bobby Jindal (La.) and Bob McDonnell (Va.), former senator Rick Santorum. Pretty Little Liars (8pm, ABC Family) - In the summer season finale, Maya's murder trial gets underway, and Emily can't withstand the media attention surrounding it. "A" then extends an olive branch to the girls, who are skeptical about the sincerity of this offer.

MasterChef (9pm, Fox) - Four hopefuls remain, and they're forced to work in teams of two to prepare a gourmet meal for three world-renowned chefs: Daniel Boulud, Alain Ducasse and Guy Savoy. The losing team must face off in a tense souffle test to earn a spot in the Top 3.

Mysteries at the Museum (9pm, Travel) - New England museums are spotlighted. Included, a look at a dress that is linked to a purported alien encounter.

Covert Affairs (10pm, USA) - Annie goes to Cuba with Simon in order to gain more information about his affairs, but she doesn't have any backup from the CIA during the trip.

Collection Intervention (10pm, Syfy) - A couple shares a one-bedroom apartment with a dog and ... thirty thousand comic books.

What to Watch on Tuesday: Revelations on 'Pretty Little Liars'

Pretty Little Liars (8pm, ABC Family) - Spencer uncovers Paige's violent past with Alison and warns Emily about her, but Emily is reluctant to take her advice. Meanwhile, Aria attempts to help Ezra put his past behind him, but this proves more difficult than she anticipated. Next week's episode is the show's mid-season finale.

Do Something Awards 2012 (9pm, VH1) - The guys from "New Girl" host the awards show honoring social activism and community service. Flo Rida, Fun and Kids These Days are slated to perform. Presenters include Ben Affleck, Kristen Bell, Will Ferrell and Ne-Yo.

The L.A. Complex (9pm, CW) - Connor encounters someone from Jennifer's past and Nick learns that Sabrina is up to her old tricks. Also, Abby comes to realize that she may be in over her head.

White Collar (9pm, USA) - Mozzie, Neal and Peter hunt for treasure following clues Mozzie believes were left by a spy ring.

Face Off (9pm, Syfy) - Season 3 opens with contestants challenged to create original aliens for the "Star Wars" cantina scene.

NY Med (10pm, ABC) - A trauma surgeon counsels the family of a man who was run over by a vehicle in the street. Also, Dr. Mehmet Oz performs a heart-valve replacement on an elderly woman and a pediatric surgeon operations on a newborn with multiple heart abnormalities.

Go On / Animal Practice (10pm, NBC) - If you missed the original debuts of two new NBC sitcoms during the Olympics, here's a chance to catch them again. "Go On" is the new Matthew Perry show, and "Animal Practice" is the one with the monkey.

2012 Summer Olympics (NBC) - You can check to see when and where games are playing on the NBC Olympics schedule page. Highlights include the final night of gymnastics, beach volleyball semifinals and more track and field. Tips on watching the Olympic games.

History Detectives (8pm, UNC-TV) - In tonight's installment, detectives investigate whether Woolworth signs held by Matt Flynt are from the 1960 Winston-Salem, N.C., lunch-counter sit-ins. They also study a picture frame possibly made from the staircase bannister of the Titanic or Lusitania, and try to figure out whether the father of a man's childhood friend was a Nazi spy. And then there's a little matter of a journal filled with liquor recipes that may have belonged to a bootlegger during Prohibition.
 
Pretty Little Liars (8pm, ABC Family)
- Spencer and Aria attend the Kahn brothers' party and engage in an intense game about truthfulness with Jenna.

L.A. Complex (9pm, CW) - Kaldrick visits his father and Abby tries to befriend her costar. Also, Beth's mouth lands her in trouble.

Haunted Highway (10pm, Syfy) - In the Season 1 finale, an Old West ghost town in Idaho is visited for a paranormal probe, and a prairie monster is sought in Montana.

What to Watch on Tuesday: PBS claims to have Bob Dylan's electric guitar

Pretty Little Liars (8pm, ABC Family) - Hanna attempts to find out who's assiting Garret, and Emily has another flashback, which points her to a suspect.

History Detectives (9pm, UNC-TV) - The Season 10 premiere investigates the history of a Fender Stratocaster electric guitar to determine if it's the same one Bob Dylan played at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival (where he was booed off the stage for "going electric"). (Note: PBS is currently in dispute with Bob Dylan over this. A lawyer for Dylan says the singer still has the guitar, but PBS is so far standing by its claim that Dawn Peterson has the instrument). Also, possible Beatles autographs from 1964 Miami Beach, and a $5 thrift-store find that may have a Frank Zappa link.

MasterChef (9pm, Fox) - Paula Deen is the guest judge for a Southern-inspired mystery-box challenge.

American Gypsies (9pm, National Geographic Channel) - The series premiere introduces the Johns, a tight-knit Romani family  living in New York City. Patriarch Bob Sr.'s health is failing, prompting brothers Nicky and Bobby to battle for leadership. Meanwhile, a rival family encroaches on Nicky's psychic shop, leading to a violent confrontation.

NY Med (10pm, ABC) - A man with a liver disease needs a transplant and hopes to live long enough for his daughter's wedding, and a trauma surgeon finds his groove in New York after leaving New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel (10pm, HBO) - Segments include a look at marching-band hazing; an interview with MLB All-Star Matt Kemp; and a report on former Olympic gold medalist Dominque Moceanu.

What to Watch on Tuesday: 'White Collar' and 'NY Med' among the night's premieres

Pretty Little Liars (8pm, ABC Family) - Aria and Emily search for "A" at Jenna's lavish birthday party. Meanwhile, Spencer keeps an eye on Garrett, who's out of jail visiting his sick mother.

Frontline: Endgame - AIDS in Black America (9pm, UNC-TV) - Frontline looks at the story of the AIDS epidemic within America's black community, which accounts for almost half of all HIV/AIDS cases in the country. The story is told through the experiences of people who have the virus or are fighting to contain it, including Magic Johnson, Julian Bond, pastors, health care workers  and young men born with the virus.

White Collar (9pm, USA) - In the Season 4 premiere, Peter tries to find Neal (Matt Bomer, right) on a remote island before a bounty hunter finds him first.

Trust Us with Your Life (9pm, ABC) - Highlights from Serena Williams' life are comically re-created in the series premiere of a show featuring celebrities reminiscing about pivotal life moments. Those moments are then acted out by improv artists.  Jack and Kelly Osbourne get the same treatment in an episode at 9:30. Fred Willard hosts, and you'll see some of the same improv faces (like Wayne Brady) you've seen on "Whose Line is It Anyway?" The improvisors often have to "Glee Club It," which means they have to suddenly break out in song.

NY Med (10pm, ABC) - The premiere of an eight-part documentary series following the staff and patients at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. In tonight's installment, Dr. Mehmet Oz arranges a reunion between a patient and his ex-wife, and a woman with a brain tumor undergoes a risky surgery. Also, have you ever wondered what they do when someone takes a Cialis or Viagra and their "situation" doesn't go away after 4 hours? You'll find out tonight. It involves needles. Warning: This show is crazy addictive.

Covert Affairs (10pm, USA) - A tragedy leaves the agents shaken and in unfamiliar territory in the Season 3 premiere.
