THE NEW FALL SEASON: "Unforgettable"

As I watched "Unforgettable" (10 tonight, CBS), I imagined someone seeing the episode of "60 Minutes" with the report on the people with hyperthymesia -- that condition that allows folks to recall every moment -- and saying 'That could be a show!'

And so it is; a cop show, of course. Poppy Montgomery plays a detective who has left the force because remembering everything can apparently be tortuous. She's pulled back into police work when a crime is committed near her building and her ex-boyfriend (Dylan Walsh) happens to lead the local homicide unit.

"Unforgettable" doesn't live up to it's name; instead it's perfectly pleasant.

"Magic Beyond Words": Rowling 101

If you know the story of J.K. Rowling, you know it's perfect fodder for a Lifetime movie. And while her life may not have played out exactly as portrayed in "Magic Beyond Words: The J.K. Rowling Story" (Lifetime, 8 tonight) -- it's an unauthorized biopic -- the movie is a perfectly pleasant, if basic overview of the famed author.

The movie opens with already successful Rowling (Poppy Montgomery), riding in a limo to a premiere with her fiance, then flashbacks to a very young Jo, playing a witch game with a friend in the forest.

From there the movie moves ahead quickly, focusing mostly on her deep love of writing from an early age, and her even deeper love of her mother, who gets multiple sclerosis and dies young. (Rowling has said she's estranged from her father, and in the film, her father's remarriage is touched upon as point of contention.)

"Lying to Be Perfect": Not a complete fairy tale

It's interesting that Lifetime is airing the good-hearted "Lying to Be Perfect" (tonight at 9) because it's the same network that airs "Drop Dead Diva."

DDD is about a skinny girl who ends up in the body of a fat girl and learns lessons about inner beauty and size discrimination. "Lying to Be Perfect" starring Poppy Montgomery (Without a Trace) is about a fat girl with plenty of inner beauty but little self-confidence.
