Pozen shares were up about 7 percent in early trading Friday after the Chapel Hill company announced that it does not expect federal regulators to require new trials for its experimental cardiovascular drug PA32540.
The company recently met with Food and Drug Administration officials to discuss concerns the agency has about the drug. The FDA ruled in June that the drug did not meet an approval milestone and that it would recommended further study.
But Pozen said in a news release on Thursday that the FDA, after meeting with Pozen officials, has decided it has enough data to make a final determination about the drug during the New Drug Application process.
