What to Watch on Saturday: A night of Beyonce and Alabama Shakes

History of the Eagles (8pm, Showtime) - The final hour of a documentary by filmmaker Alex Gibney offering an inside look at the legacy of Eagles music.

Pastor Brown (8pm, Lifetime) - A wayward preacher's daughter returns home and accepts her dying father's wish to take over the leadership of his church, much to the dismay of the congregants who know about her sordid past as an exotic dancer. Stars Salli Richardson-Whitfield and Nicole Ari Parker. Adrienne has a review.

Oprah's Next Chapter (8pm, OWN) - Oprah Winfrey interviews pop superstar Beyonce.

Beyonce: Life is But a Dream (9pm, HBO) - A 90-minute profile of Beyonce, produced and directed by Beyonce, featuring concert footage and glimpses of Beyonce's personal life. Adrienne saw this one too.

Saturday Night Live (11:29pm, NBC) - Christoph Waltz is the host and the music guest is Alabama Shakes (pictured here). Do you like Alabama Shakes? See below.

Austin City Limits (Midnight, UNC-TV) - Bluesman Guy Clark Jr. performs selections from his 2012 album "Blak and Blu," and Alabama Shakes highlight material from its 2012 album "Boys & Girls."

What to Watch on Monday: 'Dallas' returns for second season

Antiques Roadshow (8pm, UNC-TV) - In the first of three episodes set in Boston, experts examine a Norman Rockwell collection, a Red Sox World Series baseball valued at $25,000-$35,000, and a famous and controversial Paul Revere print.

Dallas (9pm, TNT) - Season 2 opens with two new back-to-back episodes. In the first, Christopher and John Ross duel over their visions for Ewing Energies, and Christopher seeks a divorce from Rebecca. At 10, the battle for Ewing Energies rages while Elena tries to gain prominence in the company. Also, John Ross schemes with Pamela Rebecca Barnes to seize Christopher's company shares.

90210 (9pm, CW) - Annie envisions an alternate reality in which she never left Kansas. In this reality, Annie is engaged to her high school boyfriend, Dixon is a successful hip-hop artist, Adrianna is a bad-girl actress, Naomi works in real estate, and Teddy is still in the closet.

The Following (9pm, Fox) - The investigative team turns to Carroll's ex-wife -- and Hardy's former lover -- while digging deep into Carroll's psyche. Meanwhile, Joey is held captive at a house in the country.

Bunheads (9pm, ABC Family) - An unfortunate incident causes setbacks: the dance studio goes unused and Michelle returns to her old job as a Las Vegas showgirl.

Oprah's Next Chapter (10pm, OWN) - Oprah interviews Whitney Houston's mother, Cissy Houston, from Cissy's home in New Jersey.

What to Watch on Friday: Tears will be shed in the 'Fringe' series finale

Undercover Boss (8pm, CBS) - Moe's Southwest Grill president Paul Damico gets a big old "Welcome to Moe's!" when he goes undercover at his company.

Fringe (8pm, Fox) - In the two-hour series finale, a dangerous mission for Olivia precedes the Fringe team's final battle against the Observers, with the fate of mankind at stake. Will Walter sacrifice himself to save the world? Will Peter and Olivia be reunited with their daughter? I hear hankies may be in order.

Nikita (8pm, CW) - Birkhoff reveals the identity of Amanda's mole to Nikita, while Michael confronts Alex about her drug use.

Great Performances at the Met: L'Elisir d'Amore (9pm, UNC-TV) - Season 7 opens with Gaetano Donizetti's comic opera "L'Elisir d'Amore," about a peasant who wins the heart of a beautiful farm owner with the help of a love potion he purchased from a quack doctor.

CSI: NY (9pm, CBS) - The CSIs investigate the link, if any, between a skyscraper with a notorious history and a masked man found dead at the bottom of it. Meanwhile, Jo runs into a stranger who has a connection to her past.

Oprah's Next Chapter (9:30pm, OWN) - The second part of OprahW Winfrey's exclusive interview with Lance Armstrong.

What to Watch on Thursday: Lance Armstrong's doping confession to Oprah

30 Rock (8pm, NBC) - Jack and Liz head to Florida to handle his late mother's estate, only to unearth a stunning discovery about her. Tracy and Jenna supervise the "TGS" staff in their absence, leading to disastrous results for Kenneth.

American Idol (8pm, Fox) - Auditions continue.

Last Resort (8pm, ABC) - Chaplin attempts to surrender the Colorado, while Kyle and Admiral Shepard target the president.

Oprah's Next Chapter (9pm, OWN) - Part one of a two-part interview in which Oprah Winfrey interviews cyclist Lance Armstrong (right) in his hometown of Austin, Texas. In the 2.5-hour interview (part two airs tomorrow night), Armstrong comes clean about doping. For OWN newbies, the network can be found on channels 259 and 1259 on Time Warner Cable; channel 279 on DirecTV; channels 170 and 1170 on AT&T U-verse; and channel 189 on Dish Network.

Suits (10pm, USA) - "Suits" returns with a criminal case that resonates with Mike, making it difficult for him to separate his feelings from the case.

Scandal (10pm, ABC) - A flashback reveals more details about the fixed election. Also, Edison makes a surprising allegation when he has a dispute with Olivia.

Legit (10:30, FX) - A new sitcom about a crass comedian struggling for legitimacy in his life and career. In tonight's opener, Jim takes his wheelchair-dependent friend to a Las Vegas brothel.

What to Watch on Sunday: 'Downton Abbey' and 'Biggest Loser' return

Once Upon a Time (8pm, ABC) - Regina is blamed for the death of a much-admired citizen, but Emma thinks she may not be guilty. Meanwhile, in fairy-tale land, Snow White and Prince Charming plot a public execution for the Evil Queen.

The Good Wife (9pm, CBS) - Will hopes for a large payday on his latest case, but frequent nemesis Louis Canning (Michael J. Fox) tries to delay a deposition that is crucial to Will's argument. Meanwhile, an old foe complicates Eli's life, and Will and Diane take a stand against Clarke.

Downton Abbey (9pm, UNC-TV) - Much happens in the two-hour premiere of this wildly popular British soap's third season. Cora's wealthy American mother (played by Shirley MacLaine) visits Downton for the wedding of Matthew and Mary. Meanwhile, Robert receives bad news about an investment and Anna vows to prove Bates' innocence. My review of Season 3.

The Biggest Loser (9pm, NBC) - The Season 14 premiere features three kids and 14 adults beginning their weight loss journeys. Trainer Jillian Michaels returns to the show.

Oprah's Next Chapter (9pm, OWN) - Oprah interviews David Letterman from the campus of his alma mater, Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

Revenge (9pm, ABC) - Victoria incorporates Emily into her newest scheme, while Emily zeroes in on her next target.

An Amish Murder (9pm, Lifetime) - In this Lifetime movie, brutal murders in an Amish community are investigated by its female chief of police, who also witnessed horrific crimes there when she was a child.

Note: ABC also has new episodes of "Happy Endings" and "Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23" airing out of place tonight at 10 and 10:30.

What to Watch on Sunday: 'The Sound of Music' vs. 'The Bishop's Wife'

The Sound of Music (7pm, ABC) - A four-hour broadcast of the classic, Oscar-winning Rodgers and Hammerstein musical stage hit. Stars Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.

The Bishop's Wife (8pm, TCM) - In this wonderful 1947 movie, a dapper angel (Cary Grant) tries to solve the social and domestic problems of a bishop (David Niven) at Christmastime. Loretta Young stars as the bishop's wife. I give this movie one million stars.

Ax Men (9pm, History) - Shelby asks for help from his niece and James struggles to cope with his dad's health issues. Also a plot to remove DJ develops at Rygaard.

Oprah's Next Chapter (9pm, OWN) - Oprah interviews Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx.

Oliver Stone's Untold History of the United States (9pm, Showtime) - Filmmaker Oliver Stone examines the Bay of Pigs invasion, the early stages of the Vietnam War, John F. Kennedy's efforts to make peace with the Soviet Union, and Kennedy's assassination.

Family Guy (9pm, Fox) - Peter spins his own tale of the Nativity.

Finding Bigfoot (10pm, Animal Planet) - Video of an alleged Bigfoot taken with a thermal-imaging camera in New Mexico's Jemez Mountains leads the team to search the Valles Caldera National Preserve from a hot-air balloon.

What to Watch on Sunday: 'Boardwalk Empire' season ends, mid-season ender for 'Walking Dead'

Downton Abbey (3pm, UNC-TV) - If you've heard about it but haven't seen it, now's your chance to catch up. There's a marathon of Season 1 starting today at 3, with all four parts running back-to-back. A Season 2 marathon takes place next Sunday.

The Christmas Heart (8pm, Hallmark) - Neighbors in a close-knit community realize their Christmas tradition of lighting luminaries cold help a teen receive a heart transplant.

The Walking Dead (9pm, AMC) - Tonight's mid-season finale, a situation at Woodbury throws inhabitants for a loop and forces Andrea to take charge, while a new threat arises at the prison. Expect some shocks and a nice little cliff-hanger. Season resumes in mid-February.

Boardwalk Empire (9pm, HBO) - In the Season 3 finale, Nucky sacrifices a key asset to Rothstein in an effort to disrupt the Rosetti-Masseria alliance and take control of Atlantic City once again. Meanwhile, Chalky and Capone are unlikely allies in the war against Masseria. That Gyp Rosetti (Bobby Cannavale, right) is one crazy bastard. I almost hope he survives for Season 4.

CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute (9pm, CNN) - Anderson Cooper hosts the sixth annual salute to everyday people for their work improving the world. Celebrity presenters and performers appear.

Finding Mrs. Claus (9pm, Lifetime) - Santa's neglected wife goes to Las Vegas to help a girl with a Christmas wish. When Santa finds out, he travels to Vegas to make amends and ends up putting Christmas at risk.

Revenge (9pm, ABC) - Nolan must face an element from his past, while Daniel's position at his family's company is questioned.

Oprah's Next Chapter (9pm, OWN) - Oprah talks to Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Lincoln (also known as Daniel Day-Lewis and Sally Field).

The Good Wife (9:30pm, CBS) - Will defends a man accused of murder, and Alicia attempts to influence the outcome of the case by assisting a prosecutor in a nearby county who is trying another man for the same crime.

Homeland (10pm, Showtime) - Brody and Walden develop a chink in their political relationship, and it may impact their future. Elsewhere, Dana and Finn come to an understanding, and Carrie discovers she is not as looped in as she thought.

What to Watch on Sunday: From 'Treehouse of Horror' to 'Homeland' terror

Johnny Cash: Song by Song (8pm, Ovation) - A new music series that charts the life of Johnny Cash and tells the stories behind his most iconic songs. The premiere delves into Cash's "I Walk the Line," and includes stories about Cash trying to find his voice and how a tape recorder mistake inspires a riff. A second episode at 8:30 tells stories behind "Ring of Fire."

The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror XXIII (8pm, Fox) - Marge and Homer go back to ancient Mayan times and learn that the world will come to an end in 2012. Also, Marge as a youngster has a devil of a time after entering into a satanic pact. "Bob's Burgers" (8:30) also has a Halloween-themed episode tonight.

Call the Midwife (8pm, UNC-TV) - New nurse Chummy is a welcome arrival in episode two, but she gets off on the wrong foot with Sister Evangelina due to her inability to ride a bike. Also, Jenny meets a pregnant young runaway.
 
Steel Magnolias (9pm, Lifetime)
- The lives of six African American women in Louisiana are chronicled in this pretty exact remake of the popular 1989 film. This version stars Queen Latifah, Alfre Woodard, Phylicia Rashad, Jill Scott and Adepero Oduye.

Revenge (9pm, ABC) - Emily tries to intersect her life with the Graysons' lives once again, while still maintaining a link to Amanda and her unborn baby.

What to Watch on Sunday: Searching for a vampire king on 'True Blood'

Oprah's Next Chapter (8pm, OWN) - The conclusion of Oprah's interview with Miami Heat players LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh. A repeat of Part 1 will air at 7.

Secret Millionaire (8pm, ABC) - Hilary DeCesare, cofounder and CEO of Everloop, spends a week living in a rundown apartment in Long Beach, secretly seeking out people to share her wealth with.

True Blood (9pm, HBO) - Jason is disturbed by a dream and Bill and Eric hope Sookie will help them look for Russell Edgington (Dennis O'Hare, right). According to news reports, the 3000(plus)-year-old Vampire King of Mississippi will fall in love again this season. Awwww.

Falling Skies (9pm, TNT) - A familiar person returns to the unit, but his motives are scrutinized. Elsewhere, a captured skitter is imprisoned at the camp.

Inspector Lewis: The Soul of Genius (9pm, UNC-TV) - This Masterpiece Mystery finds Lewis & Hathaway's investigation into the murder of an English professor running into difficulties due to the interference of an amateur detective and two students.

The Glades (9pm, A&E) - Jim teams up with his former partner to investigate the murder of a woman who attempted to help exonerate a prison inmate on death row.

The Newsroom (10pm, HBO) - Will's apology for the lack of integrity in newscasts sets off constant critiques of the Tea Party before the November 2010 midterm elections, but draws the ire of network executives and CEO Leona Lansing (Jane Fonda).

Episodes (10:30pm, Showtime) - Matt tries to make amends with Sean by buying him a fancy convertible. Later, Matt and Jamie contemplate another romantic tryst.

What to Watch on Sunday: A busy night of specials, premieres and finales

Adele Live in London (8pm, NBC) - Matt Lauer interviews Grammy-winning singer Adele, and portions of her performance at London's Royal Albert Hall are also featured.

Secret Millionaire (8pm, ABC) - In the Season 3 premiere, Southern California artist Scott Jacobs and his 18-year-old daughter spend six  days in Newark, N.J., living on less than $75 between them and looking for folks to help while they do volunteer work.

Oprah's Next Chapter (9pm, OWN) - Oprah visits Neil Patrick Harris and his partner David Burtka and the couple's young twins. They discuss coming out as gay men and their decision to have children.

Miss USA Pageant (9pm, NBC) - Andy Cohen and Giuliana Rancic host the 61st annual contest, featuring 51 women competing for the sash-and-crown prize.

The Glades (9pm, A&E) - In the Season 3 premiere, a group of UFO enthusiasts accuse the FDLE of covering up a wealthy man's alien abduction and subsequent death.

MTV Movie Awards (9pm, MTV) - Russell Brand hosts the event in Los Angeles. "The Hunger Games" and "Bridesmaids" lead the nominees, with eight each.
