One of the most brutal hours of TV I've ever seen didn't happen on cable; it was when Oprah Winfrey dismantle James Frey for the fabrications in his best-selling memoir, "A Million Little Pieces" in 2006.

The message was clear: Do not make Oprah feel stupid or she will take you OUT.

Well, get set for what could be some more interesting TV. According to the New York Post, Winfrey has invited Frey to be among her final guests next month as her daytime TV show comes to an end.

Broadcasting and Cable is reporting that Oprah Winfrey will end her long-running talk show after her 25th season draws to a close in 2011. She'll make an announcement on the air Friday.

Actually, WABC (the New York ABC owned station) was the first to report the news on its web site, then Harpo Productions, Oprah's company, confirmed it.

Oprah apparently won't say what's next but she is starting her own cable network with Discovery; OWN will replace Discovery Health Network.

Blogger Nikki Finke reported recently that Oprah would move her talk show to OWN.

Sarah Palin's book "Going Rogue" looks to be a big hit and in it she's talking about everything: Katie Couric (reports say Palin only did the interview because she was told Couric was insecure), the issues with the McCain campaign and almost son-in-law Levi Johnston.

But you need not wait to read the book. On Monday, her taped interview with Oprah Winfrey airs.

In the days before her interview with Whitney Houston aired, Oprah Winfrey said it was her best interview ever.

Having seen part one, I'm not so sure.

I'm not saying that Oprah did a bad job. Oprah, I think, is a pro with celebrity interviews. She has this way of questioning people that is direct but not confrontational, warm but not cuddly, and she bores in to get her subjects to explain exactly what they mean, without the person feeling like they were interrogated.

We know it's short notice, but James Taylor will appear on The Oprah Winfrey Show today.

Her show airs here at 4pm, but usually repeats on WTVD again at 1am, just after The Jimmy Kimmel Show. 

Friday means "Oprah Fridays Live in Chicago," so Taylor could join Oprah, Gail, Ali Wentworth, and Mark Consuelos on their panel. He will perform for sure.
