Skin care company adding 119 jobs in Kannapolis

Ei, a skin care company based in Kannapolis, is expanding its operations.

The company plans to create 119 jobs and invest $13.2 million during the next three years in Kannapolis.

It will receive a $500,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

 

NC food distributor to open facility in Statesville and create 49 jobs

A Golsboro-based food service distributor plans to open a new facility in Iredell County and create 49 jobs over the next three years.

Pate Dawson Company will invest $8.5 million to open the plant in Statesville. The company will receive a $150,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund if it meets hiring and investment goals.

Pate Dawson currently employs 390 people at its distribution plants in Goldsboro and Greensboro. The company delivers food to chain and independent restaurants across the Southeast.

The average annual wage for the new jobs will be $47,531, plus benefits.  That's above the Iredell County average of $36,348.
 

Healthcare firm expanding Greensboro operations; will add 75 jobs

SPi Healthcare announced today that it will expand its Greensboro operations and add 75 jobs over the next three years.

The company, which helps health care organizations reverse declining reimbursements, will invest $350,000 in the expansion.

The company received a $75,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

The average annual wage for the new jobs will be $28,060, plus benefits.

South Carolina packaging company will expand Waynesville plant; add 35 jobs

A South Carolina consumer packaging company announced today it will expand its facility in Haywood County and add 35 jobs over the next three years.

Sonoco Plastics will spend $11.7 million expanding its packaging facility in Waynesville, about 275 miles west of Raleigh.

The company currently employs 331 people at facilities in Alamance, Caldwell, Catawba, Craven, Rutherford and Haywood counties.

Sonoco received a $140,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund for the expansion.

Italian company to add jobs in Concord

Yet another food company has announced plans to add jobs in North Carolina.
PreGel America, which makes the ingredients for  desserts, announced this morning that it will expand its existing facility in Concord.

The expansion will create 48 jobs. The company expects to invest $11.4 million in the facility. PreGel America currently employs 80 people at the facility.

Salaries will vary by job function, but the minimum average annual wage for the new jobs is estimated to be $40,500, plus benefits, according to an announcement from Gov. Bev Perdue's office. The Cabarrus County average annual wage is $32,448.

Wipe maker adding 25 jobs in Oxford

Shalag US, which makes hygienic wipes, announced today that it will expand its operations in Oxford.

The company, based in Israel, expects to add 25 jobs and invest $15.5 million in the plant by 2012. If it meets those goals, it will receive $75,000 from the One North Carolina Fund.

Salaries will vary by function but the average annual wage for the new jobs will be $34,400, not including benefits. That's just slightly above the Granvile County average annual salary of $34,112.

Wood maker plans to add 49 jobs in Rowan County

A company that makes wood products will receive a state grant worth up to $85,000 for expanding in Rowan County.

The governor's office announced this afternoon that Universal Forest Products plans to create 49 jobs and invest $2.6 million during the next three years in Salisbury, about 130 miles west of Raleigh.

The One North Carolina Fund grant, which must be matched by local incentives, requires Universal Forest to meet hiring and investment goals.
 
Universal Forest manufactures and distributes wood and wood-alternative products to the retail, construction, manufactured housing and industrial markets.

Italian company to open coating plant in Hickory and create 110 jobs

An Italian company that makes coating machines for gas turbines said today that it would open a new production facility in Catawba County and create 110 jobs over the next five years.

Turbocoating SpA will invest $15 million in a facility in Hickory, 180 miles west of Raleigh. The company develops processes and manufactures protective coatings for components used in Industrial Gas Turbines and Aero engines. 

The Hickory facility will help the company serve Siemens’ operations in Charlotte, one of Turbocoating’s major clients.

The company, which is based in Parma, is receiving a $110,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

Logistics company expanding into Montgomery County

A logistics company that works with the plastic industry is locating a new facility in Montgomery County, about 90 miles west of Raleigh.

Frontier Logistics plans to create 71 jobs and invest $5.15 million over the next five years in the community of Star.  The Texas company will receive a $128,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund. Local communities are required to provide matching grants.

Frontier Logistics will build a warehouse, packaging and bulk truck transfer services facility in Star. The company wants to expand its market in the Southeast.

Salaries will vary by job function but will have an average annual wage of $47,577, not including benefits. The Montgomery County annual average is $28,028.

In making the announcement Thursday morning, Gov. Bev Perdue credited the state's transportation network and strong business climate in helping lure Frontier to the area.

Austrian textile firm acquiring Outdura brand; to create 76 jobs in Caldwell County

Textile firm Sattler AG said today that it would create 76 jobs and invest $4.56 million over the next three years in Caldwell County.

The company, which is based in Austria, is acquiring the Outdura brand from Shuford Mills and creating a new company called Outdura Corp.

The company plans to hire Shuford Mills’ current 60 employees at its Hudson plant and expand the workforce to 76 within three years.

The average annual wage for the new jobs will be $39,934 not including benefits, above the Caldwell County average annual wage of $28,340.

Sattler is receiving a $150,000 grant from the One North Carolina fund.

Sattler is a leading supplier of sun protection fabrics used in umbrellas, awnings, tents and other products.
 
“We are planning to invest in the Outdura facility in Hudson and expand production capability to support Outdura brand development and growth across all major performance fabric segments,” said Alexander Tessmar-Pfohl, COO of Sattler, in a release.
