"One Life to Live" quiz answers revealed

Here are the answers to our "One Life to Live" quiz (Thanks again to our friends at the Albany Times Union):

1. C. This was revealed to be untrue in the series' final episodes, although it was taken as fact by all the characters for the past decade.

2. "All in the Family." He played an ex-professional football player friend of Archie Bunker's on the series' fifth episode. Interesting side note No. 1: The plot inspired an on-tape rant by Richard Nixon. Interesting side note No. 2: Another co-star on that same episode? Anthony Geary, later Luke Spencer on "General Hospital."

3. Llanfair. What else?

Say farewell to "One Life to Live" and see how well you knew it

Today, after nearly 44 years, the soap "One Life to Live" is ending, and we already have a few friends shedding tears.

Happiness won't lie -- we weren't regular viewers, but as fans of all things TV, we couldn't let the moment pass.

So, we went to our friends at the Albany Times Union (credit staff writer C.J. Lais) and they graciously shared this quiz.

Wipe those tears so you can see clearly as you test your knowledge of life in Llanview, Pa. (We'll post the answers separately, later today.)

1. Longtime "OLTL" heroine Victoria Lord Gordon Riley Burke Riley Buchanan Buchanan Carpenter Davidson Banks has helped her portrayer, Erika Slezak, win a record six Daytime Emmys. But which one of these things never happened to Viki?

ABC cancels 'All My Children' and 'One Life to Live"

Soap fans are no doubt outraged today. ABC has canceled two legendary daytime dramas, 'All My Children' and 'One Life to Live.'

Rumors have swirled all winter that one of the soaps might be canceled, but I never thought the network would axe both of them.

The final episode of 'All My Children' will air in September and 'One Life to Live' will end January 2012. They are replacing the soaps with new shows: 'The Chew' and 'The Revolution.'

NCSU grad speaks on having his gay character written off soap

"One Life to Live" made news late last year when they introduced two gay male characters to the show and then aired the first gay sex scene in daytime soap history. Then they promptly wrote both characters out of the show.

Brett Claywell (left), an architecture major from NC State, played one of those characters. Brett and his on-screen other-half (Scott Evans, right) recently gave an interview to Zap2It blog in which they both discussed being let go from the show, including some of the weird rumors circulating about their dismissal. Brett has also appeared on "One Tree Hill" and on Joss Whedon's "Dollhouse."
