Wolfpack routs Northeastern 88-59

RALEIGH — N.C. State needed a drama-free game on Thursday night and Northeastern willingly played its role in a 88-59 win for the Wolfpack.

Playing for the third time in six days, and 48 hours after a dramatic last-second win over St. Bonaventure, the Wolfpack dominated the Huskies early and got a chance to stretch its legs in the second half.

Northeastern 21, Cedar Ridge 7

ELIZABETH CITY - Friday night in the 2-AA Eastern Region championship game, Cedar Ridge ran into the same problems the previous 12 Northeastern opponents faced and the Red Wolves saw their season end by a 21-7 score.

The 13-2 Eagles will go on to play Salisbury next Saturday in the state championship game at Wake Forest University.

Northeastern 35, Bunn 7

ELIZABETH CITY – Despite a rich history that includes eight campaigns with a double-digit victory total, the Northeastern Eagles have never been able to reach the fourth round of the postseason.

Until this year.

The Eagles, playing at home, used a balanced offensive attack to defeat Bunn by a 35-7 margin Friday to advance into the fourth round -- and the semifinals -- of the Class 2-AA State Playoffs.
