State high school basketball championships to be televised, streamed live

News 14 Carolina and Time Warner Cable are broadcasting Saturday's State High School Basketball Championships  -- the first time all of the games will be televised live.

The games will also stream live and be available On Demand.

Indulge your hockey sports casting fantasy

Time Warner Cable is giving hockey fans a chance to indulge their sports casting fantasies this weekend at the NHL All-Star Fan Fair.

Fans can "Step Thru the Screen" and take part in an HD sportscast using green screen technology. Fans will get 30 seconds to sit behind the sports desk and make the case for why their favorite NHL player is the best. It all takes place in a replicated sports newsroom setting. 

Located at the Time Warner Cable Booth at the Convention Center downtown.

Christmas Eve services from Duke Chapel air live tonight

For the third year in a row, News 14 Carolina will televise Christmas Eve services live from Duke Chapel tonight.

The telecast of the Traditional Service of Lessons and Carols will air at 11 p.m.

News 14 Carolina is a news station available for Time Warner Cable customers.

Wake Forest-Rolesville football championship on TV today

News 14 Carolina will televise the state 4AA high school football championship game between Matthews Butler and Wake Forest-Rolesville live from Carter-Finley Stadium this morning.

Coverage begins Saturday, December 11, at 10:30 am.  Kick-off is scheduled for 11:00 am.

The telecast will include half-time and post-game coverage with highlights from other championship games played at UNC-Chapel Hill and Wake Forest University.

Local high schoolers in robot competition documentary

A News 14 Carolina film crew followed two teams of North Carolina high school students earlier this year, as they built robots for the NC FIRST Robotics competition.

The resulting documentary, which took four months to film, will air Saturday on the local cable news channel.

Fireworks broadcast live from Raleigh and Charlotte

News 14 Carolina will broadcast July 4th fireworks from the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh tonight, as well as fireworks from Uptown Charlotte.

The Raleigh fireworks start around 9:10pm. Around 9:30pm, the Charlotte fireworks begin from Central Piedmont Community College.

News 14 Carolina will have live back-to-back coverage of both events.

News 14 Carolina is available to Time Warner Cable customers. You can watch on channel 14, 114, 414, 1114, or 1414.

July 4th televised specials

Here's a breakdown of the July 4th television specials airing tonight:

-UNC-TV will have "3,2,1 Fireworks" at 7:30pm, a behind-the-scenes look at the July 4th celebration from our nation's capital. At 8pm there's a special 30th Anniversary broadcast of "Capital Fourth: America's Independence Celebration," live from the west lawn of the U.S. Capital. This will include fireworks captured by 18 TV cameras positioned around Washington, D.C. There's also a concert hosted by Jimmy Smits, and featuring performers Reba McEntire, Gladys Knight, Darius Rucker, David Archuleta, John Schneider, Lang Lang with the National Symphony Orchestra, and the Choral Arts Society of Washington. The concert ends with Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, featuring the U.S. Army Herald Trumpets and live cannon fire from the United States Army Presidential Salute Battery.

The whole thing will re-broadcast again at 9:30 PM. 

-NBC's celebration, "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular," comes fom New York City with performances from Justin Bieber, Enrique Iglesias, and LeAnn Rimes. That runs from 9pm to 10pm.

-CBS camps out in Boston for the "Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular" starting at 10pm. That's hosted by Craig Ferguson and features performances from Toby Keith. and Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra under the direction of Keith Lockhart.

-ABC ran their July 4th special on Friday. I know...

-News 14 Carolina will show live fireworks from Raleigh and Charlotte starting around 9:10pm.

US Senate debates will air live on News 14

The first debate between all three candidates in North Carolina's US Senate race will be aired live tomorrow morning on News 14 Carolina.

The one-hour debate, from the NC Bar Association's state conference in Wilmington, will feature Republican incumbent Richard Burr, Democratic candidate (NC Secretary of State) Elaine Marshall, and Libertarian candidate Michael Beitler.

The debate airs live at 11am but will also be available for viewing anytime through Time Warner Cable's free "Carolina on Demand" service (digital channels 199 and 1047).

High school basketball tourney airing on News 14

In case you can't attend in person, News 14 Carolina has your ticket to the state high school basketball championship games today. The NCHSAA men’s and women’s 4-A games will be televised live on News 14 Carolina (channel 14 on Time Warner Cable) and the other games will stream live from their website.

The 4-A games airing live from Reynolds Coliseum include the Green Hope Falcon women against the David Butler Bulldog women at 5 pm, and at 7:30 pm, the Terry Sanford men play Lake Norman High School.

How to watch Obama's Raleigh Town Hall meeting

Local TV news outlets will have live coverage of President Barack Obama's trip to Raleigh on Wednesday, beginning with the landing of Air Force One at RDU.

The Health Care Town Hall event at Broughton High School will begin around 11:45am and will be aired live on News 14 Carolina, WRAL, NBC 17, and UNC-TV. (WTVD will most likely cover this also, but I couldn't find any information about their coverage on their website).

If you miss anything, UNC-NC will rebroadcast the coverage at 8pm and UNC-TV will rebroadcast it at 11pm.

WRAL.com will also carry streaming video on their website. NBC 17 is also streaming the coverage on their website and hosting an online chat at mync.com
