Patriots release Garner native Richard Medlin

The New England Patriots have released former Garner High School standout Richard Medlin, who we wrote about earlier this week here today as part of their move to get to the NFL-mandated limit of 53 players on the roster. You can read more on the Patriots' moves on espnboston.com

Medlin could be added to the Patriots' practice squad roster after tomorrow or be picked up by another NFL team.

Garner native survives first roster cut with Patriots

Garner native Richard Medlin, who I wrote about here for today's issue of the Garner-Cleveland Record, has made one roster cut with the New England Patriots, now he'll try to survive the cut from 80 to 53 on Friday.

Medlin is not projected to make the roster, based on this espnboston.com roster projection, although he's viewed as a possible candidate for the Patriots' practice squad.
