Dine to benefit the Carrboro Farmers' Market

The annual Harvest Fundraiser Dinner to benefit the Carrboro Farmers’ Market is being held Thursday, Sept. 26.

The locally-sourced dinner will happen al fresco at the town commons, where the market is held twice a week.

The evening will start with a cocktail social featuring beverages from Steel String Brewery and Benjamin Vineyards Winery. Drinks during the cocktail social are not included in the ticket price.

The dinner will feature potluck-style dishes by these chefs: Andrea Reusing of Lantern, Adam Rose of Il Palio, Sean Fowler of Mandolin, Kevin Callaghan of ACME, Marshall Smith of Glasshalfull, Aaron Vandemark from Pancuito, Andrew Moore from Venable, Bill Smith from Crook’s Corner, Bret Jennings from Elaine’s, Charlie Deal from Jujube, Hich Elbetri from Sandwhich, Jeff Barney of the Saxapahaw General Store, James Clark from the Carolina Inn, Lemar Farrington from La Residence, Matt and Sheila Neal from Neal’s Deli, Ryan Payne of Weathervane, Sara Foster and Sera Cuni from Foster's Market, Seth Kingsbury from Pazzo, Sam Suchoff from The Pig, cookbook author Sheri Castle, and Vimala Rajendran from Vimala's Curryblossom Café.

Proceeds from the dinner will be added to the $6,000 raised in 2012 to make physical improvements to the town commons.

9th annual Chefs Event at Carrboro Farmers' Market this Saturday

Head to the Carrboro Farmers' Market Saturday to sample dishes from seven local chefs.

Those chefs will be whipping up samples of dishes using market ingredients for the 9th annual Carrboro Farmers' Market Chefs Event starting at 9 a.m.

The chefs include Jeff Barney of the Saxapahaw General Store and The Eddy Pub, Kevin Callaghan of Acme, Matt and Sheila Neal of Neal's Deli, Seth Kingsbury of Pazzo!, Adam Rose of Il Palio at the Sienna Hotel and Amy Tornquist of Watts Grocery.

There are several interesting events coming up at the Carrboro Farmers' Market:

This Saturday, a seed saving workshop will occur in the gazebo. You can learn when to harvest, what tools to use, what seeds to save and go home with free packets of seeds.
