Lancaster ties for 43rd at rain-shortened Rex Hopsital Open

Smithfield's Neal Lancaster finished in a tie for 43rd place today after the Rex Hospital Open at the TPC of Wakefield was called after 54 holes. Lancaster finished at 3-under-par for the event.

John Reigger (20-under) took the title. 

Lancaster makes Rex Hospital Open cut on the number

Smithfield's Neal Lancaster is tied for 50th entering Saturday's third round of the Rex Hospital Open in Raleigh. Lancaster fired a round of even-par, 71 on Friday. He stands 3-under for the tournament, 15 shots back of 36-hole leader John Riegger.

Lancaster has a 10:05 a.m. tee time on Saturday at the TPC of Wakefield. 

Lancaster shoots 68 in Rex Hospital Open

Smithfield's Neal Lancaster finished with a 68 in the opening round of the Nationwide Tour's Rex Hospital Open in Raleigh on Thursday. The score left Lancaster tied for 23rd entering today's second round.

Lancaster is playing his second round this morning, we'll update how he stands later.

Lancaster in field for Rex Hospital Open

Smithfield's Neal Lancaster will hit the 10th tee at the TPC at Wakefield today at 1:15 p.m. Lancaster is back playing professional golf after undergoing shoulder surgery late last year.

He regained his full PGA Tour playing card based on his finish at PGA Tour Qualifying School last fall, then opted for surgery solve a nagging injury. 

We'll follow his progress throughout the tournament.

Lancaster still rehabbing shoulder injury

Smithfield resident Neal Lancaster will not play in the PGA Tour's Quail Hollow Championship in Charlotte later this week. Lancaster had hoped to make his debut at the event after undergoing surgery for a shoulder injury late last year.

He had regained his PGA Tour card with an impressive performance at qualifying school. Lancaster hasn't played on tour this season, opting to repair the nagging injury.

The Quail Hollow Championship field will be one of the best non-major fields of the 2010 PGA Tour season with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and the majority of the world's top-ranked players participating. Play begins on Thursday.

Neal Lancaster regains PGA Tour card

Smithfield resident Neal Lancaster is going back on the PGA Tour full-time in 2010. Lancaster finished at 17-under par, tying for fifth in the final stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament on Monday in Florida.

After a solid start to the event, Lancaster finished up the six-round tournament with three consecutive rounds in the 60s, including a final-round 67. 

Lancaster has played in a few Tour and Nationwide Tour events the past two seasons, mainly entering PGA Tour events on exemptions. Come January, the 1994 GTE Byron Nelson Classic champion will have full run of the PGA Tour calendar. 

The 47-year-old pro has played in 557 Tour events during his career.

Lancaster misses cut in Reno

Smithfield's Neal Lancaster turned in a 73 in the second round of the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open on Friday, putting him at 3-over for the tournament. He missed the cut by three strokes.

Lancaster opens Legends event with a 74

Smithfield resident Neal Lancaster opened the Legends Reno-Tahoe PGA Tour event with a 2-over par 74 on Thursday. He's currently tied for 82nd entering the second round. He'll need to break into the top 70 in order to stay around for the weekend.

His Thursday round included five bogeys and three birdies.

New instructor helped improve Lancaster's game, results

Neal Lancaster's current push up the PGA Tour ladder relied on his
self-taught game for the majority of his professional career. But for
the past nine months he's been working with Brad Redding, a golf
instructor at The Golf Academy at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach.

Lancaster closes with a 69, ties for 18th at Buick Open

Smithfield resident Neal Lancaster turned in his best performance on the PGA Tour this year over the weekend, finishing at 12-under par in the Buick Open in Michigan. Lancaster fired a 69 in the final round and tied for 18th in the tournament. He pocketed $62,074.29 for his four-day effort.

Tiger Woods won the tournament at 20-under par.
