Statewide cross country rankings by NCRunners.com

The good folks at NCRunners.com have crunched all of this year's cross country numbers and came out with top-10 rankings for every championship class in both genders.

In the interest of having you visit NCRunners.com and supporting that site, we won't tell you who is ranked where. But we will list below the area teams that made each ranking and provide links to each of NCRunners' full rankings.

2012 Chapel Hill Invitational Volleyball Tournament

Chapel Hill High School is hosting some of the Triangle's top volleyball teams this weekend in the Chapel Hill Invitational Volleyball Tournament. Chapel Hill, N.C. Science and Math, Riverside and Wilmington Hoggard headline the tournament which also features Carrboro, Cedar Ridge, East Chapel Hill and Northwest Guilford.

Chapel Hill (No. 4 preseason N&O), Science & Math (No. 14), Riverside (No. 3) and Carrboro are in pool 1 while East Chapel Hill, Cedar Ridge, Northwest Guilford and Hoggard (4A runner-up in 2011) are in pool 2.

Green Hope, Cardinal Gibbons, Carrboro and NCSSM win NCHSAA Wachovia Cups

Wells Fargo, along with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, today announced the final standings in the Wells Fargo Cup competitions for the 2011-12 academic year.

It was nearly a Triangle sweep. Green Hope won 4A, Cardinal Gibbons won 3A, Carrboro won 2A and N.C. Science & Math tied for first in 1A.

Carolina-12 Basketball Tournament Results

The Carolina-12 Conference, which has both 1A and 2A members, splits its post-season basketball tournament by classification.

Northwood's boys were upset by Carrboro in the 2A tournament final, while the Northwood girls defeated host Granville Central.

Roxboro Community's boys thwarted a Cinderalla run by Franklin Academy in the 1A final, while River Mill's girls defeated Franklin Academy in the other final played at Durham's Voyager Academy.

Dual-team wrestling state tournament starts

The N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs are set to start this Tuesday. The first and second rounds will be played at one school site. With exception to the 1A bracket, the third and fourth rounds are held at a school on Thursday (the 1A only has one match that day for the regional title.

All four state championships Saturday between the East and West champion, also held at a school.

NCHSAA sets soccer championship times

N.C. Science & Math will play its N.C. High School Athletic Association 1A boys soccer championship game on Friday night while Green Hope and Cardinal Gibbons will play their title games on Saturday.

4th round of NCHSAA boys soccer

Each N.C. High School Athletic Association boys soccer bracket is down to the regional semifinals, which will be played Saturday. Winners will meet either Tuesday or Wednesday for the chance to play in next weekend's state championships.

Below are the 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A East brackets. In cases where teams have the same seed from different conferences, we've placed the host team on top.

Third round of NCHSAA boys soccer playoffs

It's the third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association boys soccer playoffs, meaning each classification is down to just 16 teams total -- 8 in the East brackets.

Volleyball championships set

The N.C. High School Athletic Association volleyball championships will be held at Reynolds Coliseum this Saturday on the campus of N.C. State University.

The Triangle is represented in the 3A and 1A title matches, where Cardinal Gibbons looks to add to its numerous state titles, but Durham's N.C. School of Science & Math is making its first-ever apperance in the championship.
