The North Carolina Chamber is halting publication of its NC Magazine with its current November/December issue.
The magazine, which dates back to May of 1943 simply is not bringing in enough revenue, said Sherry Melton, senior vice president of communications for the chamber. In 2009, advertising revenue for the magazine have declined 68 percent.
The Chamber tried to cut expenses by making the monthly magazine bi-monthly in March. But the savings were not enough.
The magazine was distributed to Chamber members and paid subscribers. For its last issue, its circulation was just over 14,000, Melton said. The final November/December issue should arrive in subscribers' mailboxes this week.
