Five startups in the state received a combined $190,000 from a Durham nonprofit that fosters small businesses with promising technologies and products.
Four of the companies who received the grants from N.C. IDEA are in the Triangle and one is in Charlotte. The organization did not say how much each company received, but noted that the grants did not exceed $50,000.
They're among 47 companies that have received $1.7 million in grants since N.C. IDEA issued its first grants in 2006.
