Kristen Gaffney of Green Hope is the only junior chosen by the N.C. Basketball Coaches Association for its all-state girls basketball first team. Ariel Bursey of Western Harnett was a second-team pick.

Among the boys, Siler City Jordan-Matthews' James Milliken is a second-team pick and Princeton's Ben Jacobs and Garner's Donald Johnson are on the third team.

Green Hope's Kristen Gaffney, Western Harnett's Ariel Bursey, South Central Pitt's Danielle Butts and Granville Central's Kelva Atkins named district girls basketball players of the year.

Garner's Donald Johnson and Durham Jordan's Thomas Sumpter named district boys basketball players of the year.
