At least one NBC affiliate isn't buying into the network's idea of putting a Jay Leno show on at 10pm every single weeknight.
WHDH in Boston has opted instead to show a 10pm local newscast -- that's two hours of news -- instead of Leno. Why? They don't think he'll be a strong enough lead-in for their 11pm newscast.
NBC has threatened to strip WHDH of its affiliation and transfer their programming to Boston's local Telemundo channel.
Could there be more affiliate backlash? Absolutely. It seems a whole lot of NBC affiliates are worried about Leno's lead-in for the news, since the ratings for The Tonight Show "trend down" near the end of the show.
Leno's show is scheduled to premiere in September.
