Bello shines at NBAPA camp

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Deuce Bello soared to the rim for a dunk over two defenders in transition. The next trip down the floor, the 6-4 guard from Greensboro hit a step-back 3-pointer from the corner.

At an NBAPA Top 100 camp devoid of most of the top 20 players from the class of 2011, Bello has shone in the first two days.

Deacs active under Bzdelik

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Jeff Bzdelik, Wake Forest's new coach, has wasted little time in hitting the recruiting trail.

Stokes shows UNC some love

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Jarnell Stokes stood out among the big men at the NBAPA Top 100 camp on Thursday morning for both his immense size and his skill set.

Of the 96 players in the camp, most are all arms and legs but Stokes, who's going into his junior year of high school, is built like an NFL tight end.

Lewis doesn't see future with Hokies

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Virginia Tech offered Tyler Lewis a scholarship when the Statesville guard was in eighth grade. Lewis doesn't think he'll end playing college basketball for the Hokies, though.

"They picked up Marquis Rankin," said Lewis, who's one of the top point guards in the class of 2012. "He's a point guard in the class of 2011, so they really don't need one in the class of 2012."

Bello impressed by Pack's recruiting haul

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Deuce Bello, a combo guard from Greensboro, has N.C. State on his list of college choices with three other ACC teams, Cleveland State and Baylor.

Bello, who's attending the NBA Players Association Top 100 Camp, said the addition of freshmen Ryan Harrow, C.J. Leslie and Lorenzo Brown helps the Wolfpack's chances.
